i have a brindle boy he is 16 months old, i took him to the vets yesterday and he only weighs 65 lbs and has a face smaller than the avg boxer. this is my first boxer so i do not know how big he will get or watever. will he get any bigger? are boxers usually slow in the growing process? Thanks

It does take them a while to fill out -- 2-3 years. My first boxer was HUGE -- a boy weighing in at 85 pounds. My first girl was rarely over 45. My current girl at 5 months is 39 pounds and still going. :) They are all different. He might just be small -- give him time to fill out. :)

They say boxers grow up the first year and grow out the second.

Lily has a small head, small face and she's 14lbs overweight ~ which makes her head look even smaller! LOL We call her PeaHead.

Boxers have many looks in the face.....mostly poor breeding or location of desired looks.

But all boxer's are beautiful! Squishy faced or not. Big headed or not. Beefy or not. Big or small. Just love'em All!

i neutered him at 6 months, would that have affected his facial and body growth? i feed him acana grasslands 3 cups a day(ive been told that is good food). if they do stop growing at 2.5 years then he still has one year left to grow, guess i just have to wait for the finished product :)

its a wait game - Sam is 2 YO n 5 mo - and still filling out - he went up quickly - lol

every time we go to the vet ~ 1 time a mo - to pick up flea & heart worm meds - i weigh him and its always a cpl more lbs -

he was 63 in dec ( when we rescued him ) he is now 71.2 ( as of last week ) and still " filling " out ! and i think he has a dainty face ...

just wait n see - u might be surprised !!

I think our pup cassie is a small one, although only 11 months she is quite small in comparison to others iv seen around. My husband had boxers before and he says she is quite small and wishes she would grow a bit more...
but i think she is lovely the way she is, if she fills out in the next yr it makes no odds to me she brings us much joy and happiness :)

My boy is going to be 3 years in a couple of months, is 67 pounds and is on the smaller side. Yet my female Boxer is 62 pounds (large for a female) and my first male was between 82 and 85 pounds. It really just depends. Your boy may still fill out some, but I wouldn't expect more than a few pounds at best, especially if his overall stature is on the smaller side.

...he only weighs 65 lbs

65lb is NOT small for an adult male boxer. It is correct!!! This is not a breed that is supposed to be 80-90lb, and most of those that do weigh that much are actually fat (however much their owners protest that it's "all muscle").

Considering that your dog is still only an adolescent, I really don't think you should be worrying too much about him being in any way small as the likelihood is that he'll put on a bit more weight in muscle over the next 6mths to a year. He'll be finished filling out by 2-3 years old (anything gained after that time is probably middle-aged spread (fat)). Better to wait until you see the "finished product" before worrying about him being small (though as above, he is NOT small - the correct weight for an adult male boxer in the middle of the height range for this breed is about 64lb, and your dog isn't even an adult yet).

PS: Your adolescent weighs more than Henri, my 7 year old - and Henri is certainly not undersized ;)

I agree. I don't think you should be worrying at all. Rolen is going to be 4 in September and he weighs 65 lbs. :)
