Emmitt

Boxer Pal
I know that this question has come up a lot, but I have to ask anyways. Emmitt is almost 5 months old and weighs about 27 pounds. He steadily gains about 1.5 pounds per week. Compared to the treads that I have read that is very very small. any opinions?

Shotze is 6 months and 34 lbs. She is ALL muscle. She doesnt look like a "chunk" but she isnt thin either, I think the weight of your pup sounds about normal to me. They all have skinny stages and fat stages. One time they will look leggy another they look fat. As long as your pups gaining I wouldnt be too concerned.

Otis is three months old and weighs 23 pounds and is gaining about 2.5 pounds a week. So, 27 pounds at five months would sound small, but for my dog. For yours, it could be just fine. If you are unsure, your vet should be able to tell you whether he is at a healthy weight or not.

When we got Oscar is was half the size of his litter mates but we really wanted an all white male. He is still small for his age. Anyone have experience with runts. We are wondering if he is just going to be small. He weighs 38lbs and is almost 7 months.

My pup used to go through spurts of growing. Around the 3 and 4 month stage she seemed to hardly gain weight at all and then all of a sudden she just grew. We already guessed she would be bigger than the standard (which at ten months she is already there). Boxers take a long time to mature and they go through periods of not growing. He may just be at one of those times and he'll soon hit a growth spurt.

He also might just be a smaller boxer and their is nothing you can do about it.

I just weighed Shelby this morning; she turned 5 months old today. She weighs in at 34 lbs. I was a bit surprised, as I did not think that she weighed that much.

All pups are different though. :)

Emmitt was the runt too.

Actually Emmitt was the runt of his litter. We got him at 6 weeks and 4.2 pounds. He was absolutely tiny. We feed him premium food 2-3 cups per day. We feed him 3, but he rarely eats it all. Usually he gets through 2.5cups.

Connor was the runt and at 6 weeks was only about 1lb. She is now 11 weeks and weighs only 8 lbs. At least once a day someone asks me if she is a miniature boxer. I am starting to get concerned that she will be extremely small but the vet does not say anything. Anyone else with a similar situation?

Brittany is small as well, she was 10.3 pounds at exactly 12 weeks. She eats plenty! I get asked the same question about being a mini boxer.

I have the opposite!! My two pups are 5 months old and weight 39 and 43lbs!!! Same thing though, we can see the ribs! Is obvious that they can vary greatly especially during the first 6 months!
