Boxer Pal
Does anyone know if Webbox Chub is good or not for a dog? My dog absolutely loves it but I can't find much information on it. Their website doesn't say much, neither does the packaging. Can anyone help?
Meat and animal derivatives, derivatives of animal origin, minerals. Contains EEC permited colours, preservatives and antioxidants
What I find online about it certainly wouldn't make me inclined to feed it to any animal. The packaging should list the ingredients - which online I find to be:
That's nasty. "Derivatives" are by-products. The sorts of things that are so low quality that they cannot be used anywhere else in the animal (certainly not human) food chain. And when you consider the absolute junk that can make it into the human food chain as reconstituted meat, you're really talking lowest of the low when it's un-namable for animal feed. In this case, you don't even know what animal they came from. And when the source cannot be verified, the quality certainly cannot be (notwithstanding that anything crappy enough to have to be sold as derivatives/by-products is invariably stomach-turning). If you need more convincing, take a look at the information about byproducts in this article: http://www.api4animals.org/facts.php?p=359&more=1
In this products, you also have artificial colours (linked to hyperactive and behavioural problems in children - and what does your dog need coloured food for?), and unidentified preservatives (which may or may not include preservatives banned from the human food chain due to being carcinogenic - they're still allowed for animals, and this product isn't telling you which they are).
