Can anyone help, my 2.5 yr old red bitch Nala when I went to let her out of her crate this morning would not get up normally she is first out and looking for breakfast but not today.

When she is sitting it looks like every now and again she gives a mild tremble and she also will not stand up or walk, I got her out of the crate and stood her but it is like her back legs won't work or are very very weak, if you lift her backend up and then place it down it is like the legs have no power to hold her up and they collapse, she is just about to come into season but I don't think that has anything to do with it.

Last night when she went to bed she was fine, running about with the rest of the guys quite happily.

Can anyone shed any light on the situation.

I think you should take your dog to a vet straight away. There can be many potential causes of symptoms like that, some of which are serious. It's best to let a doctor take a look and adjudicate.

Without wishing to jump to any conclusions - I note that another member located in Scotland posted a very similar thread very recently. http://www.boxerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=130868 It makes me wonder about the possibility of some bug transmitted locally... Or, it may simply be coincidence. DO head for a vet though - this is the sort of thing that needs a medical professional to examine and decide if there's any serious problem or not.

Not eating, trembling, can't stand up, a trip to the vet is definately in order. Sounds very serious needs medical attention.

Nala is at the vets, I took her in just before lunch and he gave her a good going over but he could see just by looking at her there is a problem so he has kept her in to do some tests.

I hope it's nothing too serious. I'll be thinking about her, please let us know how she is doing.

Well Nala is home, the vet gave her a full work up and could find nothing at all, they gave her a nice big shot of antibiotics and sent her home, she is walking about quite the thing now and eating well, we have to call the vet in the morning and let him know how she is and maybe take her back for another scan and a course of antibiotics,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,strange,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,he thinks it may have something to do with the fact that she is due to come into season.

Thanks all for your kind thoughts.

I'm glad you took her to the vet. Hopefully she will be ok with the antibiotic. You just never know since they can't talk.
