We were asked to leave a flea market-VENT

We got up early this morning and got the pups ready to take a trip to the flea market. We just wanted to spend a nice morning browsing around and Trinity needs to get some social experience. It's an open flea market and I've seen many dogs there in the past. When we got there, Brutus was pretty well behaved, and Trinity is learning. Anyway, we hadn't been there ten minutes before we were asked to leave because dogs aren't allowed there. Another person was so kind to tell us again on our way out.

I guess the reason it made me so mad is because there were other dogs around and because I never saw a sign posted in one place that said no dogs. Never mind that the flea market is set on gravel and dirt and a lot of the people there were dirtier and less behaved than my dogs. I could understand if it were an indoor flea market, but this is wide open space. Of course, it is obviously ok for people to set up cages in this 80+ degree heat and try to sell dogs, but I can't walk my babies around for a bit. Maybe I was just insulted that we were asked to leave because of our babies, but it made me furious. We'll not be going back there. When we first got there, I was wondering why there didn't seem to be as many people milling about as there used to be. I guess other people were treated the same as us. We'll be taking Trinity to the fall street festivals for some socialization training. From past experience, a lot of those people LOVE cute puppy faces.

i too have been told no dogs allowed even when there were no signs posted, a perfect example was 2 years ago my son had a game at park we inquired before we brought the girls no one had seen a no dog sign posted .well we got there and i wasnt even seated yet when we were told our dogs couldnt stay i stated there were no signs but this man who was on the food commitee insisted they couldnt stay then my husband spotted across the field on the opposing team 3 small dogs with thier owners so he told him when they leave ill leave needless to say we stayed, i wondered was it because of the breed of dogs i have, i think it was.

I think that it is totally unfair that people with little purse dogs can take them everywhere, but if you have a big dogs you can't. I see the little dogs at Target, Best Buy, and a lot more stores. But if I wanted to take Jade inside any of those stores they would ask me to leave at once. I think that if they are going to allow dogs in a store, park, or school, that they should allow all dogs. Not just little ones.

I take my dog with me everywhere. I've had her in the Dollar Tree, the mall, baseball games, football games. I haven't ever been told that I couldn't have her there. I thought about taking her in some place like Wal Mart or Target because I know that I've seen people with little chihuahua(sp?),shit zue, pomerainin(sp?) etc. in a purse like thing or even in the cart.

I learned an interesting fact from my Grandmother who is legally blind and extremely active in the blind community. Did you know that Boxers are the BEST suited breed for a seeing eye dog? The only reason that Retrivers and Shepards are used instead is because too many people were scared and intimidated by our beautiful, kind-loving Boxers. I think that it's only because of ignorance that this kind of situation happens to Boxer owners. While I've never been asked to leave because of my babies, I can't count how many times someone has asked me if they were pitbulls or been extremely afraid to come near them.

That's sad. I was walking my dogs this evening on the hiking trails in my community and a couple with a scottie hustled themselves and the dogs off the trail when they caught sight of us. Then as we got closer --they said oh, their just boxers!

I know it is corporate policy to allow dogs in Bed, Bath and Beyond and I believe in Home Depot. I'm sure there are plenty of others as well.
