my husband & i already have 2 boxer boys and we went to the shelter today and seen a brindle female. is there anyone that can give us any advice if its hard to have more than 2 boxers. Is there any advantages or disadvantages owning 3
I have always had 3 dogs, one of which is a boxer. Yes, it requires more work but provides 3 times the enjoyment. As long as you have the time, money and space, I say go for it.
We have 3 Boxers. Our old boy is 11 1/2 and our two crazy pups (male and female) are almost 5 months. It is a little extra work but totally worth it! Nothing like having that gang meet you at the door or pile on ya in the bed. I couldn't do it alone though.
I have three boxers and to be honest I will never have three again. It’s a lot of work. Also you can’t take three places as easily as you can take two. However most of the reason we don’t enjoy having three is because our two males don’t always get along. So we have to watch them like hawks and supervise constantly. Don’t get me wrong I love all my dogs but in the future I will never have three again.
So if you do decide to adopt my advice is to be prepared for the possibility of issues arising. However the good thing is that you’re considering adding a female. Opposite sex adoptions rarely fail or prove to be a mismatch, so since you already know your two boys get along then there is a good possibility that a FEMALE would fit in nicely without problems.
Good luck with your decision… and kudos to you for considering a shelter dog!
I have 3 boxers and love having them all except for when I come home and I do not have enough hands to greet them at the same time. It does cost more to feed them but after all this time of having 3 I do not notice it anymore. I have 2 girls and a boy. I love having the 3 of them.
