Last night as my BF and I (along with Gambit) were pulling into our driveway we spotted 2 beautiful boxers running loose. They came running straight up to the car like they new us and were expecting us home! My BF got out of the car and greeted the two lost soles only to find out that they didn't have any tags on them...collars though. Luckily, I had noticed that one of our newer neighbors had a boxer so that's were I thought they may have come from. We put them in our backyard so that they couldn't run loose anymore and went door to door asking if anyone had lost their pets. We located the right house, but the owner wasn't home. I was furious! How could someone be so irresponsible? We kept the boxers (both intact males) in our backyard giving them water and playing ball with them. After we established that they were friendly, we introduced our Gambit to them. Lets just say that Gambit's head hit the pillow pretty hard last night after everything was said and done!
Eventually it got dark out and was starting to get pretty cold and rainy so we made the decision to block off our laundry room with gates and bring them in out of the cold. (What can I say...I'm a softy for those boxer faces). Finally around 9:30pm the owners arrived home and the BF went over to see them. The woman was amazed. She said that they were in the house when she left but that they noticed the back door standing wide open! Just proves Boxers are beyond smart...especially in pairs! She came over to get her babies. We were thinking that they still had to be pups because of their size. Gambit is 1 and 1/2 years weighing in at around 100lbs. They were much smaller than he. It turned out that one was 4 years and the other 2 years. WOW! We've got a big boy on our hands. Anyway, all is well now. She didn't have tags yet because they just moved here 2 weeks ago. I bet she gets them soon!
Just thought I would share. Not everyone in this world would be so kind and not every loose dog is so lucky.
Please be responsible owners...that's all I ask :)

Kudos to you for looking out for and providing a safe haven for those boxers until their rightful owners could be found ~ Cathy

Yay! You definitely went above and beyond, but thank goodness you did!! I shudder to think what might have happened.

That is scary to think that they worked their way our of a locked house. Thankfully they approached your car and let themselves be rescued.

Glad to hear the boys are both safe--plus maybe you guys found some new friends for playdates. I hope she gets some tags for them soon and/or a microchip just incase they get out again. Your neighbor might need to invest in a deadbolt for her door. That's what we had to do because Titan and Zoey both know how to open our french doors because of the flipper handle--boxers are too smart sometimes. Glad to hear there was a happy ending though.

We were only doing what I would hope someone else would do if our Gambit would happen to get loose.
Gambit also met another friend last night. He's had a busy weekend. Her name was Lucy and she was a mix between a beagle and a dacshund. How cute! We've noticed that he really likes the little dogs better than the big ones. Maybe it's because we first introduced him to a friends Mountain Feist when he was a pup. Anyway, it was so cute to see them play. We hope to get him a brother or sister boxer sometime within the next year or so. I think it would make our fur-kid family complete and give him a live-in playmate :).

Oh yeah...forgot to comment on the weight. Gambit is definetly at his full grown weight. His mother was very slinder and tall and his father was short and broad. He got a wonderful mixture of the two resulting in a tall broad male. However, like most boxers, he thinks he's a toy breed when it comes to lap time. He's heavy, but I don't complain about it too much, especially during our snuggle times. He's a big baby! :)
