when I was a teen we found a dog and he loved us we had him for a month and were walking him one day past some townhouses and a little girl said thats my dog her mom who was tough as nails said where did you get him and grabbed him took his collar off it was ours and dragged him by the scruff of the neck inside I was scared of her and didn't do anything but should have anyway next week he came back and we kept him never walked him that way again, they never looked either. They didn't deserve him they were mean to him he was skiiny and in rough shape, and had been abused.
