How much water should I let my 4 month old drink. I feel mean taking his bowl away, but its seems like when he gets bored he goes to his bowl and is forever drinking. Should I only put in down when I feed him? Tonight for instance he peed 3 times in 2 hours, doesn't that seem like a lot? I don't want to confuse his extensive peeing with a UTI and just drinking too much water. Any suggestions?

Mine drink tons but I always think about how much energy they are using up running this way and that. I wouldn't restrict it except maybe at bedtime. If you notice your dog is drinking excessive amounts than usual you might need to get him checked over by a vet but if he's always been that way I'd say he's drinking because he's thirsty.

Puppies/dogs, cats/kittens need access to fresh, cool water all the time. But I do take my "kids" water bowls away around 9pm..about 2 hrs before they hit the sheets for the night.

My Blizzy would drink all the time, even had her tested because I was worried w/the amount she'd drink. All was well.

Peeing 3 times in 2hrs..sounds ok. My pups just both peed 3 times in 5 minutes! Heck I can pee 3 times in 2 hrs and other times I can hold it for 6hrs too.

I'd let your pup drink as needed. If he's on dry kibble..they do need more water..it is very dry and extra water is needed.
