Our boxer also had a heart murmur as a puppy (not sure what grade). The vet offered a referral to a cardiologist for her. We had to face the decision to take her back to the breeder or keep her, and also the decision whether to spend tons of money on a cardiologist. I was already madly in love with her, so it wasn't a hard choice about keeping her. Also, I have a son that has a heart condition and a heart murmur, so what kind of message would that send to him if we took the puppy back, I had to wonder. We decided to wait and see on the cardiologist. We also decided not to try to get any of our money back for her from the breeder. We were never going to breed her anyway, and I figured I had paid for the companionship and love she would give us. I realize that's not the best choice for everyone, though. But, by the third vet checkup, the murmur was gone.
As a side note, a LOT of human babies are born with innocent flow murmurs, as well. They often disappear within the first few days to years of life.
