Wart on Jowel?

I'm not sure if dogs get warts, but Jackson has a pink bump on his jowel (spelling?!) right near his lip. It appears to be getting smaller, but it's been there for weeks. Is there anything I should be doing? Should I take him to the vet?

Tess had the same thing for several weeks. It got bigger and bigger, so we made an appointment to have it removed and before we could get in, it shrank and disappeared. If it's getting smaller, you might wait it out. Most of the time, according to my vet, these things are benign and go away on their own. We only decided to remove it because she kept cutting it and bleeding all over the place. And it was gross looking - :)

Yes, boxers get warts (papillomas). My vet has also told me they often go away on their own. Darwin just had 4 small ones removed. 6 months ago he had a grade 1 mast cell tumor removed from his leg and I feared at least one of the warts was another tumor - but they all turned out benign. Keep a close eye on it and if it continues to shrink, seeing the vet is probably not necessary. However, if you are worried, I'd see the vet, just for the peace of mind.

If it doesn't go away, remember, boxers are very predisposed to skin cancer. I'm a bit of a freak, but any time we see anything on our 2 out of the ordinary, I'm on the way to the vet. My boy, Titan, had a small wart looking thing on his ear that I happened to notice on the way to the vet for regular shot updates/heartworm testing, etc. I mentioned it to the vet, and they told me to bring him back for a biopsy. It was a mass cell tumor. Just be careful and be cautious. Boxers are very prone to skin cancer. T is ok, but I'm very cautious!

My man Axle has them to, he is just under 1yo. Axle was quite a bad digger in gardens etc and our vet told us that they are most likely due to clogging with dirt. They look more like little pimples than warts on our boy and they have cleared up considerably since he has controlled his digging habits.
HOWEVER!...I have always been a paranoid mummy and dont take things lightly when it comes to our two - would it be uncommon for a boy so young to have skin cancer??

If it warts or 'doggy acne', our vet suggested wetting a cloth with a savlon type antispetic wash and cleaning the area 3 - 4 times a day - I guess it would all depend on the age of your dog whether or not the spots are similar to Axles.

Thanks!

All this information was so helpful! Thank you all for your advice. I plan on bringing Jackson to the vet just to be careful! Hopefully everything will turn out alright.
