Walking on the Leash

We Love to take Sox on walks at night, however it is frusterating because all she wants to do while walking is bite her leash. We have tried all the no bite sprays and have even tried Listerine (someone said it works), I just want us all to be able to go on a walk not have Sox plaing tug of war the whole time with her Leash. Anny suggestions on what to put on the leash or how to break her of this habit?

my ex-husband's boy, Leo did that. I started walking him right next to me and holding my hand with the leash higher than normal so there was little slack and he couldn't grab it. Broke his little wagon, I did......he soon tired of trying to get the leash he couldn't reach and started walking nicely. I then started giving more and more slack and now he only tugs at the leash when my ex is walking him and he has to go - NOW. It is more of a "hurry up Dad, the potty spot isn't getting any closer!" thing.

I used the same method as TheBoxerCrew with Ty and it didn't take him too long to figure out the "right way" to walk. Another suggestion might be to try a harness-they can't reach the leash to bite it. Good luck!

I most important thing is to not tighten the leash. If you don't play tug with them it takes all the fun of it. Just slaken the leash and stop walking.

what type of harness?

What type and size or harness would be good.. Sox is only 20 weeks old and is growing like a weed. I don't want to get one and ahve her grow out of it too quick. Thanks

take Sox with to a store like Petsmart where pets are welcome, and find the adjustable harnesses. They can be adjusted and "grow" with the dog for a while.
