Hello all....i'm hoping someone will be able to help me with gunners "thing" latley. Gunner is in the habbit of walking around and peeing. i'm not sure if he even notices it hes still young so i thought maybe thats it....however he does ask out on a regular basis. I wasn't sure if this was a male dog thing (our female has never done it) or just a training issue. Currently if i see it happen i rush him out the door (usually its too late though). Any thoughts on this, or ideas for breaking this habbit would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Zebedee does this sometimes, I don't think it's anything to worry about.
Our last female dog (collie) used to do this too on the odd occasion.

Dozer does it on leash. Like he doesn't have the time to stop and smell the roses, and then pee on them. He just sprinkles as he goes. Sounds like it may just be a puppy thing.

hahaha....maybe hes thinking its more bang for his buck...if he pees for a half a block no dog will miss his scent. lol

I was concerned because it happens 2 or 3 times daily (i should have mentioned that in my original post!). I'll give it so more time though. thanks

It definitely must be a puppy thing because Syd does this too and it drives me up the wall. :). Samantha being a female never did this so it might just be a Male thing.

Indy used to do that too. The only dog we've ever owned that did it. Mostly it was when he had doggy company. We would know the accident was his because it traveled! There would be a crooked little line. As he got older it stopped, I tend to think it was excitement and lack of control. For the record it took him almost 5 months to be reliable with potty training, much longer than our other dogs. He's smart, he knew what to do but dogs like people develop muscles and control at different ages. I guess it just took a bit longer for him.

Got to say I don't miss the wobbly little stream now though. :)

Now that I think about it, it usually happens when my skin kids are playing and running around. It probably is the excitment. Now that you say that it makes sense. Thanks a bunch....never thought of it!!!

Bently did this all the time when he was younger. It was really great when we were potty training...he would go all the way down the hall and thru the kitchen and be done by the time he got to the kitchen door. (We've had our carpets cleaned 3 times in the last 5 months)
Luckily we got over that and now he still does it every once in a while...mostly when he's very excited or something is outside the yard isdistracting him. He just turned 9 months on the 1st and has been lifting his leg for about a month now. (Yeah, finally!) I'm thankful of this because we are seeing him pee less on front paws and legs.

wiggly pee stream..

I'm gald to see I'm not the only one who suffers this.
Our new boxer Harley - 9 weeks - tends to do that as well. No warning. He will go outside to poo - he is good for that, and he will go outside to pee "normally" outside as well, but there are times when he is inside (and sometimes outside) and he'll be walking from one toy to another or just simply walking somewhere and leave the wiggly stream.
Our older boxer Jake - 6 years old - was a dream to train, he only ever had a handful of accidents and was trained very quickly. So it's hard to go from a dream dog to one that's a little slower to learn, you kind of panic because it makes you feel like it may be something they might not grow out of.
But I do feel better now, I can kinda see a light at the end of the tunnel!
