Vomiting in the morning?

For the last two weeks, my dog wakes up early morning before I wake up and vomits yellowish puss.. what could this be?

She is very active. She eats well as always. She is playful. Does not cough, etc.

On a second thought, before all this started, I do remember giving her a chew toy which she swallowed some pieces but a week or two weeks later, it was vomited. Then a week or two later, this started to occur. In two weeks, she has done this like 3-4 times.

Boxers will often throw up bile when they are hungry and their stomach is empty. You can try feeding them a little later in the evening or maybe a decent sized snack before bed.

I've always fed 1 1/2 cup in the morning and 1 cup at night - same time, every time. She has never done this before.

If there's a chance that she may not have vomitted up all of the chew toy - then a vet visit really wouldn't hurt. Just to rule out the possibility that there could still be bits inside there causing problems. It may seem like overreacting - but that sort of thing can happen and have serious repercussions (there's a current thread where someone lost their dog that way).

IF she gets an all-clear, then you might try Jan's advice. Vomitting of bile because of empty tummies is quite common in boxers. And even if you've always fed at the same time, it's worth bearing in mind that metabolisms do change as we mature or age, and what suits us at one stage of life might not suit so well some time later. Same goes for dogs

I agree with the others. Glad to hear you are taking her in...it's always better to be safe than sorry.

Roscoe used to do the same thing almost every morning, very early. We started giving him a snack before we went to bed and he hasnt had a problem since. We give him a little bit of kibble, but you could give him a bone or some bigger treat just so he has something in his tummy before he goes to bed. Now, he looks forward to his evening "snack" and even knows what snack means :D

We go through the same thing with our little girl. She was throwing up bile and I couldn't figure it out until I searched around on BW. Now we give her a light snack right before bed and she hardly ever gets sick now. I would give it a try... (And ours get excited for "snack" too :D )

Also, its always good to get it looked at if you think your baby has an obstruction.

Max does the same thing. Sometimes at night I will notice his stomach growling, and he doesn't want to eat at first, but I encourage him and as soon as he does he is fine. Try the late night snacks, and it'll probably clear up.

Alright...

I took her to the vet on Sunday morning (couldn't wait) and they did a chest x-ray and a stomach x-ray and they did not find any foreign objects except for a lot of poop and food from our early morning breakfast.

He gave me 3 pills for her to take:

Simplicef 100mg(every 24 hours)
Gastricalm (every 12 hours every 12 hours twice a day)
Pepsid 20mg (every 12 hours twice a day

He also gave me several cans of Prescription Diet I/D food. I'm supposed to feed her 3x a day.

I think she may have a cold too because she does this elongated snorting sound - something like a kennel cough but no hacking. This happens sometimes and is usually a second or two then she gets over it. Let's hope these meds will cure her.
