we took our almost 3 year old male to the vet for vomiting. He vomits bile, sometimes food. It is getting more and more often. Our vet said that since he is eating and drinking to watch him for a week them if it doesn't stop, they will do blood work and xrays. They did a fecal and that was ok. My question is how long before food should be digested. He will eat about 6:30 and then about 11 hours later he threw up whole food. Should it not be digested by now?

Kibble is usually digested in around about 12 hours, raw food is digested in around 5 hours.

My year and half female boxer just went through this last month. She would eat at 7 am. and vomit at 5:30pm. The vet checked her, ran x-rays and couldn't find anything wrong with her. I put her on a rice and cottage cheese diet for 4 days and she was fine. As soon as she ate her normal dog food again she began vomiting again. This is the same dog food she has been raised on since day one.

After reading many people's stories here, I decided to change her food to the Nutro Sensitive Stomach dog food and all is well again in our house. The vomitting has completely stopped. It must have been the corn products in her original dog food.

I'm not a vet or anything but, you may want to look at the dog food and try something new.

Good luck!
