My friend got a boxer from Animal Aid in February. She is a beautiful brindle girl named Brandy.Animal Aid said she had till May to get her spayed and then she would get a discount. She took Brandy in to get done and the vet said she may have had a c-section because she has a long scar on her belly. The vet said if she is already spayed he would only charge for putting her out.Brandy was already spayed and she had to go through all of that for nothing ,and the vet charged full price!!!All he did was put her out make a small incision and take a look and sew her back up!The vet was not in when she had to pay the bill but the secretary insisted she had to pay full price and not the $40.00 he said she would be charged if she had already been spayed. My friend is going to call the vet today and talk to him to see if he will give her $200 of her money back!Hopefully everything works out.Is there any danger to the dogs health from having to go through this?

Depending on the type if anesthesia used on the pet there shouldn't be any thing to worry about. That's bunk if the vet thinks he can just make someone pay for a procedure that wasn't done, even if he hadn't said before hand that she would only have to pay the $40 she should never have been charged the full price. Grrr, makes me so mad to hear about people taking advantage of other people like that. smashicon  Hope your friend gets her money back.

Your friend shouldn't have paid anything, and let the secretary know she wasn't leaving the office until they got the vet on the phone to straighten it out! The office staff can always reach the vet (the same is true for any type of business), it's up to us, as the consumer, to make sure that they do what needs to be done.
I would call that office, or go there everyday, until I got my money back. I would also keep a log of the situation for when I report it to the authorities. There's got to be somebody, somewhere, that would be in a position to hear this and take action.
