KatCH
Super Boxer
Funny, I just got on here to post about the same thing. We actually just got home from the ophthamologist (yes, they have them for dogs
). He said it's something they see a lot of, and more so in specific breeds than others. He doesn't think boxers are a breed more prone to them, but it's more often than not something genetic.
He said they are lipid (fatty) deposits. He ensured it isn't really bothering her and isn't causing her any trouble with her vision, but over time it could cause a break down of the cornea. He prescribed once daily eye drops (which I will also be researching).
He said things that could be the culprit were diets high in fat (not the case here), lots of fatty treats (also not the case here), or potentially a thyroid problem (but again, not likely the case for Millie).
I'll follow up and let y'all know if these drops seem to help or not. Millie is only 4.5 years old and I can't imagine eye drops every day for the rest of her life is going to be something she (or I) will enjoy.
