Very tiny opaque spot on both eyes

Hello,

I have a 3 year old fawn boxer and recently I have noticed a very small grayish/opaque spot in each eye, right in the center of his pupils. They are only noticeable if you look very closely in the right lighting. I guess anything is possible but I am worried that he might getting cataracts... Does anyone have any experience with cataracts or something similar to that? I am trying to determine if a vet visit is needed for this.

Interesting, I will make an appointment.... thanks for replying. Also, I put a little bit of peanut butter in his Kong each morning, I asked the vet if it could be bad for him and she said NO. I know Peanut butter is high in cholesterol and such so if that's the case maybe that's the culprit.

If peanut butter was the culprit of eye issues my girl would be blind. She has it in her Kong multiple times a day....whenever I leave the house she gets about a tablespoon in it and this happens every day of her life. My previous girl too who never had any eye issues.
I am not a vet and am not saying that anything isn't possible just that it would surely be a rare occurrence, IMO.
Hopefully the vet can shed some light on what is going on.

OK, that's what I was thinking.. Because cholesterol was mentioned and that's what made me think of the peanut butter. He would despise me if I stopped giving him that! We will see what the vet has to say.

I was looking into Lily's eyes last night, and guess what I saw? Yep, one white opague spot in each eye. I moved her head side to side and the spot didn't seem to change positions. So I got out a pen light and shined it into her eye to see if it would still be present. Well, it disappeared. After some investigation......those spots were a reflection from the window! D'Oh! The light is a large window, but the reflection from it, in an entirely different room, the spots were tiny.

Is it possible that what you are seeing is a reflection of a light source? I know it sounds too simple, but I thought I'd ask. I'm a bit paranoid about anything indifferent in my dogs. Often running to the vet post haste and only coming home feeling silly and several bucks shy in my wallet. LOL

Leah has a spot like that in her right eye. Started out really small and has grown. Still very small, not covering her whole eye. It seems to have stopped getting bigger. It's located dead center of the eye.

My vet put green liquid in her eye and looked at it with a black light to check for scratches and it is not scratched.

I'm thinking cholesterol deposits, too. Vet said if it was other eye injuries I would see her "tearing" alot in that eye or an obvious discomfort. I don't know. Soon I'll take her to the eye doctor to get a concrete diagnosis.

Keep us updated if you get to a vet eye dr for an answer.

Finn had them for a while. We were sent to the vet school to see a specialist and thats what he said they were. His cholesterol was good as was the rest of his results. I noticed recently that they have disappeared so will get him checked out again soon.

Definitely work a vet visit.

Loki has these within the last few months = since jan actually. Don't seem to bother him and he just hab completely normal lab work???

I don't know what kind of peanut butter you eat, but mine says 0 Cholesterol. You would have to add animal fats to your peanuts to get cholesterol. :(
