Very Skinny Puppy - need advice

When we got Sam at 6 weeks, he weighed in right at five pounds. We're now going on 13 weeks and pushing 20 pounds after moving to a premium food. I'm sure your baby is fine. .

Our new baby boy weighs 10.4lbs at 8 wks. I was a little concerned because he was pretty skinny in comparasion to the Boxer pups I've seen at this age. We consulted our vet (who ruled out any parasites) & then explained that puppies of all breeds tend to be somewhat skinnier out here because of the heat (Nevada). We're used to fatter puppies from Kentucky, where it's not well over 100 degrees everyday.

When concerned about your pup, always consult your vet first, but we all have to consider parentage, climate, etc, etc, etc.

Piper weighed 8.2lbs at 8 wks but then she slowed down, due to hookworm she got at 10wks. Now that she's almost 20 wks she weighs 28lbs, you can still see her last three ribs, but I feel she is healthy looking. I don't try to overfeed her, she gets fed 3 times a day and only gets 15 to 20 mins to eat. Normally she cleans her plate in that time, if you aren't feeding a high quality kibble it would be good if you started. We feed Piper Chicken Soup and it works for her, not that it will work for your pup, but she eats a smaller quanity and definately poops less great benifit. Congrats on your baby!
