On an up note, I am doing a home visit tomorrow for a possible family for Charlie. We are all keeping our fingers crossed this family is the right one.

Well I hope it goes good!!! If not I sure Charlie will find a forever home he is famous now I know that I would take him in a heartbeat

I wanted to mention something about this earlier. People from outside PA may not know, but PA is considered the puppymill capital of the USA and Lancaster County houses many kennels that(where many Amish reside) are some of the biggest offenders. I think I read there are upwards of 200 "kennels" in that county. It is a cash crop for some and they treat the dogs as they would any cow or pig or chicken not as companion animals as we think of them.

In 2005, our Governor proposed sweeping changes to our cruelty laws because of the widespread mistreatment of dogs in puppymills. He fired the entire board and appointed new people. They are still revising the new laws, but are making great strides.

I never heard of a "puppymill" until I joined Boxerworld and have since done tons of research on it. I actually learned that Lancaster was the capital of Puppymills and have informed everyone in my family and friends of puppymills and not to buy from petstores. It takes a story like this for people to become aware of what is going on and it is a chance for everyone to educate people around you.

With that being said, I am extremely happy that Charlie will get the last of his life filled with love and happiness!! Thank you for helping these babies out :)

Keep us updated :)

I wanted to share the good news. The family I did the home visit for is picking Charlie up today! I so hope this works out as beautifully as I think it is. I am so glad I was able to have even a small hand in finding this guy a forever home. Yay Charlie and good luck sweet boy!

What great news appicon appicon I am so happy that poor Charlie has a chance at a good life for however long it is. April you are truly an angel. Thank you and all the other volunteers who give so much of their time and energy to rescue these wondeful animals. God Bless You. Pls. keep us updated on how Charlie is making out. No punishment is enough in my eyes for people who abuse helpless animals.

Great news!

I never knew about the Amish puppy mills either until I got into rescue. Like most people, I used to think, "Aw, those Amish! They're so quaint!" And now that I have personally met a couple of dogs that have come out of Amish puppy mills . . . well, let's just say that my illusions are thoroughly shattered now. Of course, puppy mills in general are abhorrent, regardless of who runs them.
