Very concerned....has this happened to you?

Hi all! Brinks is almost seven months and was neutered last week. He was doing great....so great he wouldn't rest naturally. Well, yesterday he was acting kinda weird....getting into stuff he usually doesn't, etc. He is a very, very good dog and has been TOTALLY potty trained since he was 11 weeks old! Well, I was working on the computer, and he walked up behind me and peed on the carpet....I couldn't believe it!!! When we went upstairs to bed, I checked his stitches and cleaned them like I'm supposed to, and I notice his skin on his testicular sack (if that's what you call it) was weeping a little. Could he do all of those things if he was in some pain? I stopped giving the pills a few days ago, but I gave him one last night just in case. Naturally, it gave him diarrhea and I was up with him. Please share your thoughts....I'm worried about my little guy! Thanks!

When my boxers got fixed the stitches area was seeping and bleeding. The vet put them on antibiotics but said it was probably from them licking at them to much. Our vet said it was very common but to try and keep them from licking at them ( that was hard!!) He also said the diarrhea was probably from the stress and from being put to sleep. It took a couple of days for it to clear up but we had no problems after that.

Good luck, Kayboxer. My advice would be to try even harder than I did to keep him quiet and still. What happened to us was that because we weren't playing and exercising as hard as usual, he had EVEN more energy to burn! It was tough! I'm hoping that he just overdid it and is a little sore. I'm taking him to the vet just to get it checked out this morning. I'll let you know what happens!

Hi again! Okay, I took Brinks to the vet, and his surgical area is healing fine, but he developed a sort of UTI/penis sheath infection! Not a big deal, but explains the odd behavior and the pee accident. I KNEW there had to be a good reason he'd do something like that! She put him on antibiotics and he'll be just fine. Advice after your neuter....the vet had told me to clean the area with peroxide every day, which I did, but she told me to also clean his penis with warm water, as well. Try that on your boy!

My sarge was reacting to the stitches. I left them in as long as I could to be sure that it would remain closed then I removed them and he cleared up just fine and healed faster.

I don't think Buster has stitches. They used the lazer on him. He has been licking somewhat, not just horribly but it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep him from jumping and playing. When they told me to try to keep him from jumping I wanted to ask them if they had ever owned a boxer or been around one for a while?

I'm glad to hear Brinks is doing fine now. I was thinking that maybe he had a urinary infection. When we think something is wrong more than likely it is. You did the right thing and took him back to the vet. I'm sure he'll be fine in no time. Get well real soon Brinks so your mommy won't be worried about little man.

Hi everyone, I got my pup neutered when he was 7 months old, he had the same problem. The day after he was neutered he was back to his old self. He was jumping off the walls and trust me it's hard keeping him calm. The day of his neuter, he just slept the whole day. He also had alot of gas for a couple of days and was back to normal. My pups stiches started to bleed to and I was worried about him. When I took him to the vet they said he was fine and just gave him some antibiotics for it. The vet told me to keep the area dry. He recommended I just whip it down and use baby powder so the area stays dry. Hes doing great now. Hope everything goes well for you.
