I know how you feel on 2 things
1) the dog issue
My friend lives in an apartment bldng by my house. This is a very multicultural neighbourhood and as many ppl know, Muslims arent allowed to touch dogs. Well tehre are a lot of Muslim people around here. She was taking her dog for a walk one day and was waiting for the elevator (she lives on the 11th floor) the door opened and there was a somalion lady in the elevator, and when she saw my friend had a dog, she began to hit the button to close the door....so my friend put her foot in the door to keep it from closing and told the lady she was gettign in the elevator whether she likes it or not because she lives in the bldng too. Well the lady started yelling and got out of the elevator. A lot of the muslim kids around here will tease our dogs..so they really cant be left outside un attended. I literally got into a fist fight over a dog in the summer when a Muslim kid was hitting a dog with a stick....Almost got charged with assault over it (btw i am 18.. and the kid ...i say kid because he acted like one ,was 17. and i was only arguing until he proceeded to call me vulgar names and pushed me..so i gave him a knock in the face) When im walking my dogs, the kids will bark at them to get them to come to them and try to get them. And a few yrs ago we had some dog poisonings going on here too.
and 2)
the stereotype.. ive had pink hair, black red bright red orang and right nows its blue...i have lots of earrings and a vertical labret..so i know how the stereotyping goes. All these people stop me and ask my why i did it (esp. elderly people) and tell me ill never ge a job etc...well i have never been unemployed since i was 15. But i do get the odd person who is very inquisitive about it and genuinely wants to know mor about my piercings and such
