Vent about work

Have you ever had one person leave your job and you were sooooo glad to see them go. And when the new person comes she screws everything up and thinks she runs the show?? I am SOOOOOOOOOO upset right now. I am sick of being thought of as a young kid.

I work in IT and on the helpdesk. I am the only one on the Helpdesk with a computer degree, but I am just starting out so I am getting experience. So why does this chick come in that is like 10 or 15 years older than me and trying to run the show? I just don't get it. She will NOT ask me any question, but will TELL me to help her and just give me the work. She will not help when I ask her, but has NO problem going to my boss and b@#ching about me. I have been here 1 1/2 years, her 2 months. Come on now give me a break.

I am soooo fed up with me job. I feel over qualified for what I am doing and this girl is litterally driving me INSANE, she is worse than the first one. I just had to vent, and I need reassurance I am not the only one. Where are my Prozac? I think I need an extra!!!

Sounds like you,her and your boss need to have a pow-wow and get this aired before it festers any further.

I understand completely where your coming from. I am going through the same type of thing here at work. My supervisior put in her notice a week ago and she will be gone at the end of the month. I am very qualified to do her job but she told me that I do not have enough expierence. Is five years expierence not enough? So she wants to bring a friend in for the job... since when is the outgoing employee have the opportunity to place a outside employee into her job? I'm so aggervated with her it isn't funny. but on the other hand I'm going to put in for the job regardless of her opionon because I know I can do it. So hopefully I won't end up with another incompetent boss if so I'll be looking for another job... hopefully I'll get the managers job and all will be well. Unfortunately where ever you work there will be office politics unless of course you have the ability to work for yourself.

Did this over zealous co-worker replace someone who had authority over your position? If not, I do not understand why you are allowing her to continue to make a power play by ordering your around and/or upstaging you in front of the boss. If it is not your job to orientate this woman, just worry about your own accountability and let her work (mistakes) speak for itself. Hope things eventually work out ~ Cathy

Nope, we have the same title! She is no better than I am. We are both Contractors, so making a fuss may end up with me loosing my job :( I will just stick it out, thanks for the advice.

Update

I just found out that she has given attitude to people high up in our school district, and some people of high importance in the IT division. In short....her days are numbered!!!

But now the chick is saying she is taking me to lunch tomorrow and she is buying, after my boss had a "meeting" with her. I bet they told her I was sick of her and that everyone else is too and she is trying to make friends. I can not hide my emotions that well and I am already getting a head ache stressing over it. I need to see my babies.....they make me feel better.

Funny, but I have been wondering the past 3 years, how you are supposed to work with and deal with someone you JUST CAN'T STAND!!! I haven't figured it out yet, and sometimes (most of the time) it is a daily struggle. I wish someone had some insight on how to deal with these people that we don't like, but I don't.
