When we have company over, we have to say don't pet the dog. The reason is she will pee all over the place. Its kind of funny when new people come over we say don't pet her, they wonder will she bite and we kid around saying yes, but actually she will just pee and make a big mess. I have checked with the vet and have been told that it is there way of showing affection. Once our company has been there for a while, you can pet her though. Does anyone have this problem?

Harley has done this many a time. Mostly when bigger men stand over his head, or reach over him. I belive it has to do with submission not so much affection. At least this is the case with Harley.

Us too..

Our 10 month old girl, Jazzy, does this too.

She seemed to grow out of it at around 7-8 months, but recently it's like she's had a little relapse.

She just gets so excited to meet anyone new, does a major wiggle dance, and wets. We've read that it does no good to discipline her for this, so we don't. We're just hoping she'll grow out of it.

Urinates

My dog is also named Harley, she is now 2 and 1/2 years old and she still does it. So, I don't think in my situation that she will grow out of it. The one thing that my vet did tell me is that pet her from underneath not over, it seems to work sometimes. We took her to get a pic with Santa and she did it on his foot.

My girl Ally is 2 yrs old and she sometimes does it when she greets people at the door, she'll be doing her boxer wiggle and then pee. Actually i should say some people...It's only one of my buddies that she does this too.

Jesse also urinates submissively but we are able to avoid it if we know that company is coming over we have her go out to go potty 10 min before our guest are expected or if we are taking her someplace like PetSmart we have her go potty prior to going in the store.

Xena did that up until the age of 4, but only to one particular visitor, my brother-in-law. She would always get so excited to see him and lose control of her bladder. My bil calls her "Pi$$er", and when he visits he always yells "Pi$$er" and it's almost like she thought that was a command!! We haven't seen him for almost 3 yrs and she doesn't do that anymore.:)

My Omar is a submissive pee-er too and he's 4 1/2 years old.

We've also learned to have company ignore him when they first come over until the excitement wears off. Sometimes when we get home from work, even Greg and I can't make a fuss over him either until he's gone O-U-T.

Krikkit - thanks for the articles. They were very interesting and suggested a lot of the things we're already doing, so it's nice to know we're on the right track.
