I've been reading many other posts about boxer lumps and bumps....and now I've found a strange one on Koolba! It's on her back...off to one side...COULD be, but seems lower than where her recent vaccination was...but that was on Friday!! and it's Monday! Seems like too long to have a reaction?? It's detached (you can roll it in your fingers) and not painful. It's about the size of a large pea...and must have appeared really quickly and recently, cuz with her cast on, she's on my lap being petted all day! What is it? I'm calling the vet at 7am sharp, but am worried! It's about 2 inches lower than where her collar hits.

This lump sounds like it could be from her vaccinations. My three always get these lumps about 5 days receiving their vac. I was told to massage them, it does take a while but they soon disappear.
Good luck,

The rabies shot does that to one of my Boxers, freaked me out the first time but figured it out after I calmed down.

It is probably just from the vacination. It is quite comman and will go away. Even if it's not from the vacination, you don't need to panic about it. By all means have it checked out by your vet, but it is not an emergency. Don't worry about it overnight. Have a good nights sleep.

Take care,

It sounds like it's a swallowing after a shot. Please don't panic and consult with your vet if you want to know it for sure or it wouldn't go off.

Best of luck :)

My mother's Golden Retriever had that after her vaccination too. I would suggest to call your vet, but I'm not sure a visit is essential, well the vet will tell you.

Thanks so much!

Thank you all for your reassurances...After calming down a little I too decided it was from her vaccination. Although she didn't get this after her second round of shots (the first she had after she lived with me...) Spoke with the vet this morning right at 7am when they opened :) and he seems to think it's the shot...says yes, they do give them that low (around the shoulder blade, to one side of the spine..) and that it can swell this long after the vac. (fri-mon night) Said he'll check it at her next visit 2 weeks from Friday...unless it gets bigger, etc. Thanks again! Koolba's obviously feeling fine! She's busy trying to destroy my fake potted plant at the moment...better go distract her!
