update on coco

[Coco's Mom]

I just got a call from the vet. coco tested positive for some kind of toxic ingestion, and she has to stay at the vet overnight.She still is not up and walking around and they are giving her iv fluids to rehydrate and support her. My warning to all who read this is DO NOT USE TEA TREE OIL ON YOUR DOGS! I am having a very hard time with this because I did this to her, I feel like a very bad mommy and I dont think I will ever forgive myself!! I have alot of spoiling to do when she comes home to try to make it up to her. I will keep you posted if anything new happens.

Bless your heart. You can't blame yourself for something like that. Besides, does your vet know for sure that is the poisonous substance she ingested?? It could have been something else. She will be fine and you can give her tons of love and kisses when she gets home. Please keep us updated on her recovery. We're thinking about you. lovicon

Sending good vibes for Coco. Don't beat yourself up, you were only trying to help her not harm her. Sometimes these things happen. What's important is that she gets better. Lexi and Baxter send lots of boxer slurps and wiggles..please keep us posted!

Our thoughts and prayers go to you and Coco for a speedy recovery! Also, I'm interested if the vet think it's the oils. The shampoo I use has tea tree oil in it - yikes!

Tea Tree Oil given full strength can be toxic, yes, but many, many people use Tea Tree Oil on their dogs, properly diluted, with no ill effects whatsoever. Has the vet told you that the Tea Tree Oil is the culprit? And, is this the holistic vet, who would know if the symptoms were due to the Tea Tree Oil and would know how to counteract them?
