Thank you all so much! You all have been a great help to me. We do plan to have Bo cremated, that way he can come back home to stay with us. My son is very mature for two, but I think we will have go to grandmas while all this happens. He will certainly understand when we bring Bo back home and put him up on the fireplace mantle. He will know that as Bo's place. Thanks again for all the feedback.

I am so sorry about what you are going through. We found out our 12 year old was in heart failure and 3 days later we made the decision to let him go. I will share my experience with you in hopes that maybe it will bring some help in this very hard and emotional decision. We have an 11 year old little girl and a 6 year old son. I knew I didnt want Brock to suffer. I could look into his eyes and see him saying "mom I am ready to go". I knew it was my time to give Brock the kind of unselfish unconditional love he had given to us for so many years.... so we let him go. Before we took him we sat them both down and told them it was time for Brock to go to heaven and be an angel. They say you are supposed to never use the terms "sleeping or sleep" so that they know it is a VERY permanent thing and that you should stress he will not be coming back. We made prior plans also with the crematory to have his remains picked up so I wouldnt have to deal with that after the fact. We took MANY MANY MANY pics of our Brockie and now I am sooooo glad we did that. We blew them up and have his pics EVERYWHERE!! We kept his collar and tags and had them framed with his pic. To the kids all those small things meant so much. My son still tells him "night night" everynight and gives him kisses. The younger they are the more they believe that they truely have an angel puppy watching down on them. By far my kids handled it so more better than me and my husband did. As a matter of fact I still cry at least once a day and my little boy brings me kleenex to say "he is watching you cry and he'd be very upset with you mom". We let each of the kids send him off with something of their choice... my daughter her tshirt and my son asent a stuffed toy. They will cremate other items with them if you choose. After we got Brock home from being cremated he came right home to the mantle where he loved to snuggle under. It helped me to have him cremated because I feel like he is home and with us just as he should be. It gets easier as the days go on... but it is hard. I can tell you it was harder to watch him struggle though. I believe with all of my heart his health has been restored and he is forever by my side even though I cant see him. Turn to this forum for support. They truely have been GOD sent me. I hope somehow this helped you just as so many in this forum helped me with their past losses. I will say a prayer for you and your precious baby tonight. When the time comes you will know....trust in that and know its the right thing to do.

I'm so sorry to hear about Bo, as others have said, to let our babies go is the hardest, most heartbreaking thing to do but it is best for them of course.
We lost Morrissey at 11 years old a year ago, I have to tell myself he had a long and happy life, even though it still hurts a lot.
As Bogey's daddy says, kids are resilent, much more than us, when our first boxer, Brooster was 11, he became very sick from cancer so we told our daughter, who was 2 at the time, that he was going away to heaven now, she said bye and kissed him, now she doesn't remember any of that atall.
Afterwards we would always say, Brooster is with the angels now and he's okay. I know it's so hard when you have a little one and it's time to say goodbye to our fur babies but it will be okay.
Many hugs to you and your family and big kisses to Bo, take care, it's going to be hard but hang in there. Hugs....Kate.
