I do not think my little girl is as big as she should be in fact I think she is really underweight, you can tell just by looking at her from above. She is 10 weeks old and she doesnt look good, however she is very active and growing soooo fast, she seems to be eating maybe not enough.. if she doesnt want to eat she wont. Ive tried mixing it with water to make a gravy, I have treid warming her food up, I have tried it from all angles. At first I thought she just wasn't eating enough because she was getting used to a new place, but this is just crazyy now. I am worried, does anyone have any suggestions? Is this normal?

Underweight Puppie

I am having the same problem but when talking to one of the people in my boxer club, she said that the dog is just being a puppie and trying to get away with as much as possible. They said to set an assigned feeding time and when that time has passed and she does not eat, take the food up and try it again either during the lunch hour or when you get home that evening. Mine is being very particular and will eat anything except what you put in front of her. She has energy and her stool is normal. If she was underweight, she would not be having normal stools. It is like the same thing for a human. Put a hamburger and broccoli in front og them. A human will always gravitate toward the hamburger but in due time, they will eat the broccoli (it is better for us anyhow just like the dog food is better for the puppie) and she will eat. Gotta' run

Underf ed Boxer Puppie

Just a continuation from the previous thought. I know tht you are worried about the fact the your pup is not eating. Right now, he or she is gettign adjusted to their new surroundings so just be patient. Our parental instincts kick in and everything else goes out the window. I am ready to give her chicken breast and canned food because that is what she is wanting to eat. It is a battle of wills and don't forget that you are the master and your puppie looks to you for guidance. Right now that relationship is being established.

Have you tried a different brand of food? You could also put some milk in the food and nuke it real quick.
