uggg the wait is tooo long

still 5 more weeks before we can bring Rocky home , what did you do while you waited? Veronica has been out shopping buying toys, bedding etc, etc. have read a couple of boxer books and spent hours here on bbw reading up. come on september!!!!

It looks like you are doing all you can do. A couple of books that I would highly recommend would be Culture Clash by Jean Donaldson and Before you get your puppy by Ian Dunbar. You used to be able to download Before You Get your Puppy for free but I am not sure if that is still the case.

Time will go quickly!

Exactly! I was just going to say, sleep!

I'm surprised that people recommend that book by Ian Dunbar. My puppy class uses it and I'm not impressed. He says that the same criteria should be used whether you are getting your dog from a person who shows dogs or from a family who is breeding for the first time. To me that sounds like a BYB. He also doesn't stress health testing and breeding to better the breed. I thought it was a bit unrealistic to expect breeders to have 8 week old pups knowing sit, down, stand, and come. I also think it is a bit alarmist. A few times he says things like "you are one accident away from ruining your puppy". It is a bit extreme for me. But, it doesn't hurt to read several different books and decide what works for you.

Ahhhhhhh....the anticipation! I agree with the others on the sleep thing as you will need it! Don't forget to puppy proof your home :)

Yep I totally understand we had a long wait for our wee Ruby and boy was it hard but believe me it is so worth it! Enjoy your new puppy.

Actually, the booklet is a pretty darn good outline of what to expect in bringing your new puppy home. It's not meant to be an "end all be all" guide to dog ownership - there are other books for that. ;)

We're waiting until spring for a breeder we really like to have her next litter & then its hoping that she has a boy (preferably a brindle one)! So! I'm definitely in your boat, and talk about agonizing! :( There's only so many times I can look at dog toys and collars to buy him! (he already has two i found on clearance at petsmart that i HAD to get him!) I'm with everyone else though, sleep! and if its your first boxer, keep reading! :)
