Tyson won't stop biting himself

Hello all I have a beautiful almost 10 month old neutered male boxer/pitt mix.
He is my husband and I 1st child and we are expecting our 2nd in January.

he has always been an ITCHY dog we've tried EVERYTHING!!! chnaged food,gives oatmeal baths,on atarax (antihistimes) fish oil (gave his diaraherra) and just friday got him his 1st cortizone shot. he has been chweing hos arms to th epoint that it's all scabbed up not a hot spot that god but raw and scabby.The vet said at this point it's a cycle we'vee been treating him internally but he won't stop externally so he now has to wear "the bad boy helmet" that lampshade thing on his head which he hates.

He gets so nervous over evrything but when he wears the halmet he won't move at all. he barely even swallows his saliva he is a big shaky,drooly mess. I've trieed to not put it on but am awoken at 5am to him nawing at his arms so he MUST wear it. any advice for itchy dog syndrome or advice for a dog who shakes at ALL truck SUV lawn mowers etc? he was expoed to all these thihngs as a puppy but recently was scared to death by the trash truck and now shakes at any motorized object... HELP please!

Poor Tyson! The itchies probably drive him crazy. The cortizone will not really help. It only hides the symptons! You need to find what it causing the problem.. I highly reccomnend that you take him to a holistic vet. They will help you find the problem.

You could try putting a t-shirt on him rather than the collar. It sometimes works. There is also a collar that you can get that is really wide and prevents them from bending their neck. I can't remember what it is called and I can't look it up as I'm my laptop.
