Tyson is sick :(

It is difficult for me to answer your question with regards to Mya's level of discomfort during her abdominal examinations. because, according to her internist, she had a remarkedly high threshold for pain. He could palpitate her severely swollen belly, and she rarely uttered a whimper. My mastiff was the same way when he had his bout of enteritis. You still might want to try giving your pup OTC Pepcid, and see if that doesn't help. I'd also recommend staying away from fatty foods for the time being, especially with the upset stomach. I Knew It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I KNEW Tyson had an obstruction!!!! Today when he went poop a flat piece of rubber came out. I knew it wasn't just the flu!!! Mother's instinct for a dog? I dunno. The whole time I knew something wasn't right. Oh I am SO relieved to have an answer for Tyson's sickness!
My question is, why couldn't the vet detect the blockage?? I'm a bit annoyed by that. That was my initial concern. I even said to her "I'm worried he may have a blockage... he's displaying the signs". She said "Nope, if he had a blockage, he would be throwing up constantly." I said "Even though he has NOTHING in him to throw up?" She says "Yep". Even looking at the X-rays (which I have no idea what I'm looking at by the way) she INSISTED there was no blockage. She said "I would definitely be able to tell if there was something lodged in there." She said normally w/ a blockage there is a lot of gas in the intestines and there WAS gas on the X-rays. I guarantee that's where the blockage was it. She said the amount of gas on the X-rays was "normal". Boy, I should have trusted my gut.

I have always suspected a blockage. From reading other posts about blockages he did have the symptons. I would get another opinion from another vet, to see if there is anything else lodged in him. They went into Delilah with a scope when she ate dog toys. I am so glad that the object came out. I would bring it to the vet and show them. I would also get him checked to make sure everything in him is ok. You said that you saw some blood. You may want to rule out any tears in the intestines or colon.

I would show the rubber to the vet too! She might look a little harder on teh x-ray this time . Hopefully that's the end of it (no pun intended!) and he's on his way back to normal..... No wonder he wasn't feeling good!!!

Excellent news on passing the rubber. I am very relieved for you and Tyson as I have been following your updates daily hoping you would find out what was wrong with your boy. Hopefully he will be on his way to a speedy recovery. This was great news!
