Tyson is sick :(

Wow, how completely frustarting and scary. I can't believe the vets. aren't comming up with anything. Have they tired tagamet or a stomach acid reducer to see if that would help his appetite? It's horrible not knowing, I know, hang in there it will work out. We are all still praying and sending healing vibes for Tyson.

Tyson is a bit more himself today. He ate a little bit of bologna and has kept that down all day. I boiled him some chicken for dinner, but he wouldn't touch it. At least I feel better that he has SOMETHING in his belly.

I'm sorry that Tyson isn't feeling much better. I sure would like to know what he got a hold of that upset his tummy so! Maybe you can get some Pedialyte flavored popsicles, that will at least get some fluids into him...if he eats them! Herkie has never rebelled over his food for that long, is there anything that he LOVES to eat but you rarely give it to him? Maybe if you give him his very favorite thing to eat, that might do it. But I'm sending positive vibes that he's on the road to recovery soon.

And keep and eye on your bite marks. My ex-bfs hand started to get infected from a bite mark, but we caught it quick, and thankfully were able to nip it in the bud.

Tyson is still eating, but very little. It took him 30 mins to eat a small hamburger patty. He'll get it in his mouth, kind of chew it, drop it, paw at it, pick it up again, chew some more, and then he'll think about swallowing it.
I'm going to do a search on here for weight gain because he really needs to get some of his weight back really quick. His little frame is getting smaller. It's amazing how fast they can lose weight.
If I don't see any improvement in his desire to eat, I'm taking him back to the vet tomorrow. I want to feel comfortable w/ him eating before I leave for vacation next week.
It's just so frustrating because I KNOW something is wrong, but I don't know what it is or what I can do for him. Is it possible he has some type of parasite? He still hasn't had a bowel movement since early Friday, so I don't have any stool to take in. Would have they been able to see that on the blood tests?

Don't try to rush him to eat. If he's still sick it'll only make hime sicker. What were you original plan for while you were on vacation? If he's still sick there's the possibilty that you should change your plans.

I'm not trying to rush him. I'm just trying to make sure he gets SOMETHING in his belly. As long as he eats, he can take as long as he wants.
My dad is supposed to be house sitting for me and has vacation, so he will be there 24/7. I've thought about cancelling my trip, but my dad will be there and the vet is 2 blocks away... I just feel a little guilty.

Edit: Also wanted to add he ate some boiled chicken and broth this morning, and ate ALL of it! He even licked the bowl clean. I'm going to stop by the vet today to see if I can get some of that prescription food.

DH just called me. He fed him before he left for work and he ate like a pig! I'm hoping this is a good sign for him! Keep your fingers crossed that he's getting better.

Has his bowels moved yet? Is the vet concerned that he has not had a bowel movement?

Still no bowel movement. I was actually going to call the vet today about that to see what he thinks. It's been almost a week. Granted he hasn't eaten much so I don't know how much feces he has in there, but when the vet examined him a few days ago, he was able to detect some feces, so I would have assumed something would have come out by now??

Tyson must have known we were talking about him. First bowel movement today. VERY runny... almost like water. There was some blood in it as well, which concerns me. He kept squatting like he had to go more, but nothing came out. He did this several times. I'm wondering if he's constipated (perhaps an effect of being so low on fluids all week) and straining to go and that's the cause of the blood, or if there's a more serious reason? I'm also wondering if the reason it's so runny is because of all the different foods he's been taking in that he normally doesn't, or again if there's another reason.
I called the vet and left a message, but didn't hear back.
