Tyson and Ali have bumps!!!!

Where are the bumps located? Are there a lot of them or just a few? If there are a lot, they may have come into contact with something that caused some sort of allergic reaction (like nettles, a certain type of grass, etc). I have heard of dogs getting mosquitoe bites too, so if it's only a small amount of bumps, that might be the culprit. I would just watch them and see if the bumps go down in a few days. There are quite a few threads on here about using Benedryl for bumps - so you might do a search on that as well. Hope you're babies get better soon

The bumps sound like an allergic reaction and hives to me. I agree, please do a search on Benadryl and/or hives.
When Delilah had hives, she looked terrible (like thousands of mosquito bites), but she never had trouble breathing, swallowing, or anything else, she just looked bad.
Let us know how this goes.

could have been any type of bug bite/sting. i keep a supply of benedryl pills handy incase of anything. even when we go out.. i've got good ole trusty Benedryl in the purse/wallet/car. Boxers get into everything... just gotta be prepared! :D

Bumps & blood in stool
Hi everyone,
I was hoping to get some words of advice. Rocky broke out with some bumps on him all through out his body. He has had an allergic reaction to food before but after changing his diet he was perfectly fine. This was about 8 months ago, or so. I truly don't think it's his diet because it has been consistent with no change.
My aunt had been staying with us along with her wire haired fox terrier and Friday night Rocky got to some of her canned food. He had diarrhea the next day, Saturday. I didn't worry because I knew he had gotten into her food therefore that was why he was like that.
Sunday comes around and his poop is getting it's shape back but still a little liquidy, I notice some blood :( Then while petting him and inspecting his bumps I notice that one of them is bleeding.
He does have an appointment today @ 6 but was hoping maybe some of you might shine some light into this. The bumps have to be an allergic reaction right? He did step on an ant pile last month so that could be the origin of that, but for the bump to bleed? Anyone familiar with this? As far as benadryl goes, I will be picking some of that up today after work.
PS, as of Monday morning his poop has been back to normal but what really has me worried is the bloody bump.

Hi Rachel,
THanks for your reply. The bleeding bump is on the back of his neck and doesn't seem to bother him at all. It is the only I've found that has bled.
I hope it isn't something serious. I'm so worried :(

bumps/bites
Mr. Bear often gets bitten by mosquitos in the summer. He'll have lots of small bumps all over the place. He's on heartworm prevention thank God. They go away in about a week. I've washed his collar before and didn't rinse it well and he had numerous lesions in his neck area that became pus filled. This took about two weeks to control. What a bad learning experience that was.
None of these bumps seemed to bother him as I never noticed excessive scrathing or gnawing. It seems like boxers are very pain tolerable. If they pus or ooze constantly..take your dog to a vet. Our advice here is not professional by any means. Good Luck!

Update
We went in to the vet's office and it turns out what Rocky has is hives :( We spoke about the probable causes, it seems that it could have been the ants that got him. He is now on medication and I need to bathe him with this medicated shampoo once a week.
On the upside, the vet visit went well. Rocky beaned for the tech & vet. He was GREAT when they gave him the vaccines he was also due for, and I was definately impressed how calm he was when they drew blood for his heart worm test. Couldn't help but laugh of his reaction when it came to the feces sample though :rolleyes: He just KNEW he didn't want that anywhere near him,
. Poor baby backed up to the corner and kept going around in circles making it impossible for the tech to take his sample.. it took both of us to get him still enough.
Fortunately he will be fine, he's getting tons of TLC and he's soaking it up

When Delilah was smaller she somehow got into an ant hill. We found her licking her mouth area and we discovered that she had ants in her mouth. In fact, we had to pull her lips back and search and pick them out. Three days later she broke out in hives, similar to how your experience sounds, and we took her to the vet and Benadryl was prescribed. It took us a bit to remember the ants, but that had to have been the cause, and it did seem to have taken at least 3 days for the reaction.
I am glad things are on the upswing for you now.
