So yes - I am definitely wanted to start my Greta on a BARF diet. I have so many questions! :)

Could I see some examples of your daily feeding schedule (for one dog).

Do you feed twice a day or three?

Do you alter your ingredients daily/weekly or with every meal?

Is there a really great site dedicated to BARFing? I've found loads of info here, but would like to get my hands on more.

How many of you avoid veggies all together?

Where can you find offal?

Sorry I have so many questions!!

I can help on a couple of your questions. I feed twice a day I have 3 dog's that eat raw so there are diffrent portions. samson the baby is 8 months old since he is a puppy he get's the most. I give him 1 1/2 chicken backs or 5-6 chicken necks. along with that he get's a teasspoon of pumpkin a little yougut and either sweet potatoe, bananas or applesauce and I always give missing link in his food the ofal is on the chicken backs so I do not need to buy more. I also made liver treats and he get's that sometimes this is done 2x a day some times I have leftover raw chopmeat, steak or some chicken breast. for snacks he loves oranges as far as my other dogs they get about the same thing but less. 3 % of there body weight. I do changed up on diffrent types of veggies but I make sure to prosess the veggies so they will get the most out of them. I put a little apple cider vinguar in there drinking water maybe a teaspoon in a large drinking bowl. which I do not think they even noticed some days we have fish I give the canned sardines in water. one time I bought the canned mackrel and I could not stand the smell. could not get it off my hands. summer is coming that is when I will try a whole fish. they say that whole fish are good for them.

Thank you!

Thank you for the feedback! I was just wondering what a typical day was like. I think I'm pretty much on track, but just want to make sure. Any other suggestions are welcome! :)

- I feed my dog about 3 chicken backs and 2-3 necks in the morning and at night either chicken again (if im feeling lazy), another rmb like pork bones or beef brisket, or do up a veggie mix with whatever veggies are in the fridge and some raw meat scraps from dinner, offal, mince etc, orr some canned mackeral or sardines. I usually have to thaw the chicken in hot water most mornings because i forget to take it out the night before (oops) but it only takes 10 mins :)

Do you feed twice a day or three?
-Twice, 3 is not really necessary unless its a puppy.

Do you alter your ingredients daily/weekly or with every meal?
-Every morning is the same (chicken) but every night is usually different. I dont do it on a 'monday is fish, tuesday is pork' kinda thing. Its just whatever ive got in the fridge/freezer and she hasnt had in a few days.

Is there a really great site dedicated to BARFing?

lol i just google everything. Usually it comes up with some good stuff.

How many of you avoid veggies all together?
-I dont feed them that much. Mostly just when i feel like making a mess  which is maybe 2-3 dinners a week, if that.

Where can you find offal?
-I feed chicken backs so there is offal already stuck to them. Otherwise i feed chicken hearts or liver in with the veggie mush or fish. Offal i get at the supplier of my chicken or just the supermarket if i cant be bothered driving 30 mins to the supplier.

Sorry I have so many questions!!
Dont we all! :D

I usually feed chicken backs and necks for breakfast and then I feed something different for dinner. It is usually something like turkey necks, pork necks, a beef mix, sardines. It varies everyday. I add offal 2 - 3 days a week. The offal that you get on chicken backs is really not enough. They should get about 10% offal. I usually make a mix of beef liver, kidney, heart, port heart, lamb hearts etc. Pretty well anything I can get my hands. I don't usually feed veggies anymore as I don't think they are necessary. I just try and approximate a whole prey animal, like a whole chicken or rabbit.

Good luck!

Thank you!

Thank you for your replies! This gives me a much better idea of a daily routine. I do have another question - do you guys get the offal (liver, etc.) at the market or do you go to a specialty store (or order)?

Thanks again!!

I buy it where ever it is cheapest. There is no reason that you can't get it at the grocery store.

Hi! I am completely new to this whole BARFing thing. Sorry for the ignorant questions, but do (a)chicken backs have any meat on them or are they all bone? (b)Same for necks? (c)On RMB do you only feed them bone or bone with meat? My Sammy has an allergy to chicken (in kibble anyway)(d) is it okay to start him on something different? It has been really informative reading about the different ways everyone goes about BARFing. I appreciate everyones help! I am hoping to switch to BARF so that Sammy can be much healthier with a beautiful skin and coat!!

Thanks again

I think if sammy has an allergy to chicken in kibble it would be the same. as far as the backs and necks go they have meat on them backs also have offal on them just not enough to be that alone you should give offal too.(liver kidneys heart) if sammy does not tolarate chicken then you can give him beef, pork, lamb, deer but with the gamey stuff like deer you should freeze it for a week. ther are so many great raw food out there and what I am learning since I am still new is it is by trial and error. my babies are doing great and that is all that matters. let us know how it is going for you and sammy.:)

Thanks sgbtab! I really appreciate your help! How long have you been BARFing? I have been thinking of it for awhile, but thought it was more expensive than it actually can be. I am really hoping to begin soon. How long/gradual do you wean them off of kibble?

I also wanted to let you know that your Sasha is beautiful! She looks just like my Sammy only with all of her hair!!

:0)
