Hi,
What oils are good for them and why?
I give Owen some olive oil a couple times a week (maybe 1 tsp.) b/c I
heard it was good for his coat.
Do any of you use oils and if so what kinds, and what are they for?
Is there any oil you should not give dogs?
Thanks!!

I just give Farley an oil supplement that I buy at the pet store. It has flax seed oil and fish oil, Omega 3, etc. It only takes a tsp a day, so while the bottle is sorta pricey, it lasts a long time. The name of it escapes me, but there are many different brands with the same thing.

I rub Tyson with olive oil for his demodex but I also put it on their food! Today we are going to get seameal and I have been thinking about the oil combo that has flax seed oil omega 3 and some other kinds of oils in it!!

I've been using fish oil gel caps (that I can take BTW) 3-4 times a week at 100-300mg per 10 lbs. Also give all three of my dogs syn-flex complex which has glucosamine, chondroitan, yucca powder, vitamins C,A, and E, and essential fatty acids. - Cathy

I currently have my two on a rotation of oils that I use every day. I use wild salmon oil, evening primrose oil, borage oil and fish oil. All in softgel form (except for the wild salmon oil) pricked to get the good stuff out. I also use Cod Liver Oil only once a week in one meal--usually on Friday evenings. I have also used olive oil (extra virgin) only for a long, long time but one of my dogs developed a terrible skin/allergy rash this summer so I did some research and got input from other people and now rotate all of these different oils. For those of you who use the combo pills, do you have the names of those? Thanks so much!
