Tyler's getting a sister!!

I received a call from an acquaintance today. They have to re-home their 1 year old white, female Boxer. DH and I have been talking about getting Ty a brother or sister, but were going to wait until we bought a house (we have been looking). Well, since this situation presented itself, we are thinking-what the heck! The lady is going to bring Jada over on Friday, just to make sure she gets along with Ty and is okay with my 4 year old daughter. If all goes well on Friday, them I will be the proud Mom of Tyler and Jada. If not, I told the lady that I will help her get Jada a great home. My head is spinning a bit, since I wasn't expecting this to happen so soon, but everything happens for a reason and I am excited. Jada needs spayed, so I will make her an appointment for next week to get fixed and checked out-Ty is already neutered, so no unexpected pregnancies will occur in those few days. Their reasons for getting rid of her are ridiculous-she gets on the counters and doesn't listen when they call her. I told the lady about Ty's trainer/behaviorist, but she said they have to get rid of her. Well, at least the sweet girl will have dedicated humans here, for the rest of her life. I am hoping things go well on Friday, so please keep fingers and paws crossed for us-I will keep you all updated.

Congratulations and best of luck!! I am simply amazed though that the lady has to get rid of Jada cause she gets on their counters and doesn't listen when they call her. Sounds to me like they just didn't spend enough time with her to train her properly. But sure hope all goes well for you, Tyler and the rest of your family!! It's sad, isn't it. I guess they thought she would train herself. They got her at 4 months old and haven't done any training with her. The lady thinks Jada does these things to make her mad-ugh. I know they love her, they lady was crying when she called me, but they should have got an adult dog who was already trained instead of a puppy-or no dog at all if they weren't ready to invest the time. Either way, I will have my hands full for a bit, trying to teach Jada the "basics". It's okay, though, I am a stay at home Mom, so I have the time. I'm starting to get really excited now !!

Congratulations and good luck, we'll keep our fingers crossed for you that everything works out and you end up with a new family member. Ellie counter surfs and has great ability to get things that she wants off the counter. I was brushing her teeth and after she was done she put her front paws on the counter at the same time squeezed some chicken toothpaste out, JACKPOT!
So we wanted to see if she could do it again this time deliberately so we pushed the toothpaste back so she had to bring it forward and she did. Then she put her paw on top and started licking the tube, she knew! These counter surfers are so smart and you just might get a kick out of it.

Jody, I am really happy for you if this works out. I've always wanted a white baby, but Petey seems to be an only doggie. However, if a white girl just dropped in my lap, I would be hard pressed to say no. I do hope all goes well and Ty gets a sister. It would be a three ring circus at your house for sure.

When I read your post all I could say was WOW!

This was great to read and I can't wait til Friday to see how Jada and Ty get along with each other.
