I always feed dry kibble only(premium). My dog started to get finicky. I mix a little bit of warm water and put the food in the micro. for about 15 seconds. It must do something to the smell because she tears it up. BILL

This is how I started feeding 3 months ago, and it also solved my picky eater issues.

Great suggestion.

I LOVE YOU!!!!

I can't even believe it !! I just tried it, and he scoffed it up! I have been adding pumpkin, canned food, chicken broth, you name it and nothing worked like this. (and water is alot cheaper) Thank you so much for this wonderful suggestion--I love this site!!!:p

I'm going to try this for Daisy tomorrow morning. I feel like sammierose, I've tried chicken broth, baby food, etc. etc. My fingers are crossed!

We did this too when we were still on kibble. He would eat it at first but later began to refuse anything. I tried water (as suggested), yogart, cottage cheese, broths, egg, jam, rolled oats.... you name it I tried it. Oh well.

Harley was starting to show the same signs, he would go up to his bowl and then decide it was not interesting, so would walk away.

I tried the water and it worked great, but what I have found is that Harley like to actually see the nice stuff (pieces of meat/veg/rice/eggs) going into the bowl. As long as he sees there is something being added, the bowl would be cleared.

I know it sounds mean but if they don't touch the food after you put it down remove it after about 5-10 minutes. If they don't eat oh well! They will learn that you call the shots and to eat when you put it down. Believe me they wont starve.

Jenny - that's exactly what the vet said. I don't think it's mean - they will eat when they are hungry. (I just have to keep telling that to myself)

By the way - the water did not entice Daisy. I think her teeth are bothering her and it really depends on how she's feeling. My daughter found some little puppy teeth in the water bowl last night so I think that explains a lot! Emma also now has a really cool item for Show and tell!! :)
