Hi not sure if it is spelled right but here goes and sorry if this is a repeat. My poor Sarge had tremors last night and they were only in his head not anywhere else, his body did not shake and he was awake and his eyes were not goofy or anything like that, only his head tremored. It did not last very long but long enough that it has freaked me out! We just recently started letting him sleep with us so I'm not even sure how long he has had this happening! I have not noticed anything before when hes running around during the day, It reminded you of looking at a person with parkinsons disease. Any one wlse ever heard of this or had it happen to their baby?

I did a search a couple of mnths ago regarding head tremors. Abby has had them 3 times (that I know of) a 4th time was a whole body tremor. Freaked me out but the dog seemed unphased.

What I found was most are unsure. It might be a reaction to Fabreeze, Change in diet, change in laundry detergent. These asre the items I remember reading. I use Fabreeze and although I doubted the conection I still stoped usein it. I have not seen the head tremors again.

My vet seemed unworried.

I dont use fabreeze but I did buy a couple of new harley blankets to put on the chairs where he sleeps in the day time maybe I should wash them. They say it could be the beginning of epilepsy or the signs that he has had it and its only getting worse.

Chancey had tremors out of the blue a couple of months ago. I did some research and read alot about the effects of low blood sugar on dogs. I changed her food to a higher quality and give her a snack before bedtime(her tremors were always very early morning) and she hasn't had them since. Good luck....

Finn went through a spell of having them :( he had a middle ear infection which was causing dizziness upon waking up.

Head Tremors

Hi, Sherbert had head tremors a few years back and now it came back, only lasts about 2 minutes. The only thing I changed recently was thier food from Chicken Soup to Nutro only because the store did not have it. Could it really be the food?

Brandy has had numerous head tremors & I rewashed all her blankets/pillow. Changed her food & changed her treats. Now she only gets NATURAL treats (instead of the ones I was buying from the store. Make sure the food & treats don't have BHA in them. I swear she ate a treat from a friend of mine & she had tremors again. They were Bill Jac which have BHA in it. We thought at first it was because we were playing with a laser pointer but still don't know if that is true since we have put it away so we don't have to worry about the kids playing with her.

I would suggest to go to the vet and have them throughly look your dog over to make sure there isn't anything else that could be causing it. I wouldn't put your dog on any phenobarb unless it has the tremors all the time & it is really bad. That is what our vet suggested since there was no evidence of epilespy (sp?) and sometimes there occur for no reason at all!

Im convinced Finn's were food related as he had ear infections itchy paws at the same time as the tremors. So it is possible.

Chancey's head tremors ceased when I started feeding her a few treats before bed. The vet couldn't find any reason for them. After some research I read tremors could occur because of low blood sugar. Since Chancey's tremor always happened about an hour and a half before her morning feed I added the bed time snack and haven't had a problem since.
