I searched for similar threads and didn't make much headway, so here goes.

I think Beasley is a DRY TREAT SNOB! Yesterday I had a little bit of time to kill before a dentist appointment (yuk) and I stopped in the Three Dog Bakery to see if they had some special treats for Beasley. We've been working really hard on his recall and I wanted to have some special treats to reward when he comes when called. He's grain intolerant and so I'm always asking about what's in the dry/biscuit-type treats so I can make sure that he can even HAVE them. I found some biscuits that were wheat, corn, & soy free and I thought they smelled pretty good - at least to me they did! Kinda like Animal Crackers...

I get home and we're doing some quick training in the back yard. I'm so excited to give him a new treat so when I give the HERE command, he comes barrelling over to me (praise, praise, praise! appicon ) and give Beasley a new biscuit. He won't touch it. Sniffs it and then turns away. He did this with the Blue Dog Bakery treats I bought at Trader Joe's, too. However, the minute I busted out the cubed chicken chunks, he had drool bubbles all over his chops! Guess we won't waste our time and money with dry treats anymore.

Anyone else have a crunchy/dry treat snob or is it just Beasley??

Ethel's a Treat Snob, Too!

This sounds just like Ethel. The girl will not go near a dry treat! It's ridiculous! We were spring cleaning last weekend and were going through all of the great dry treats we've bought her - wholesome, yummy stuff - and we did a taste test to see which ones she would eat. Solid Gold jerky? Yes, please! Dry treats of any kind? Nope. She is so spoiled. I had never heard of another dog doing this either, so it's kind of a relief to hear that there is another pup out there as snobby about treats as she is!

Though, occasionally she'll eat an Old Mother Hubbard Char Tar. Not often though. I think she's ashamed!

You're not alone. We also have a dry treat snob as well. I tried giving Chula a treat from the over-priced, but really cute and trendy dog bakery in the neighborhood and she looked at me like, "I sat down on the dirty sidewalk for that?" Oh well, you can't win them all.
