Thor (10 mos) has been through obedience and now we are starting agility. He is totally bored with his soft treats and pretty much ignores me. I get the treats in a roll that look like summer sausage, different flavors. What would be a good alternative? There is another boxer in the class and his trainer gives him hotdogs. I know their stomachs are sensitive and I don't want to give him something bad.

You want something that your dog will go nuts over - so if its hot dogs, go for it. Sensitivity ranges from dog to dog - so I would give him a couple slices and see how he does. My dog will flip for hot dogs - I chop mine in little bits when training. Cheese (like cheddar, if he can tolerate milk products) also is a big hit, you can cut that into little cubes, and lastly boiled chicken also works. You want to make sure that you don't use these treats for anything else either or they will lose their "value".

Get a treat recipe book, that way you can vary the treats and it will always be something new! I bake dog treats all of the time, and there are none that my dog doesn't like!

I can't really help you here because Elsa will reach for the stars for anything edible! Sorry... (cheddar and chicken does seem like a good idea though..)

Try doing a search for Tuna Fudge. They are easy to make and work really well.

Splash went nuts for cheese during obedience class. Not to mention that he also like whatever everyone else had. I buy the cheese sticks for him and he loves them. I give he little pieces at a time, and knock on wood it doesn't bother his tummy!! Our instructor also suggested hot dogs, but they made Splash have a bit more gas than usual.

I use the rollover dog food. It's like a big fat sausage that you cut up into little chunks, you have to keep it refrigerated, but Elsa just loves it. She'll do anything for it.
