Boxer Buddy
Update
Nero at 4 months and one week does well in his crate. He plays with his toys when we are home - we leave the door open to his crate. He likes to hang out in his crate while my husband is working.
He doesn't bark or if he barks he protests for a few barks then settles down. We notice he is a bit more vocal when he is not played out. So my advice to anyone training - playing in the yard for an hour, then the crate while you run out. I think it takes the fight out of them a bit.
We also had some one on this board tell us to start with small time intervals and work up to larger ones. That really helped, and was great advice. And we only did it like 2 days and it helped over the long run a bunch.
Good luck!
