traditional and holistic treatments for anemia???

My 3 year old Boxer, Daisy, is anemic secondary to severe renal insufficiency. I'd like to know about any and all treatments for the anemia, especially using the holistic approach. I know she can get injections of Epogen from the vet, but I'm interested in knowing if there are other supplements, etc. that i can try. She is on a vet prescribed renal diet currently. She seems to be showing signs of the anemia more lately ie. lethargy, whitish colored gums, poor appetite, weight loss. Any input would be appreciated greatly...especially by Daisy.

Sorry, can't help on the holistic approach (but I'm sure someone else can) - but I'd just observe that the "old-fashioned" cure for anaemia is stuff like raw liver. Not a popular cure (I'm talking people here), hence the invention of things like iron tablets. I suspect the old fashioned way is better though...

There are several things you can feed to help. Nettle is a good source of natural iron. It can be ordered from Mountain herbs

Also raw eggs, seaweed, molasses and parsley.
