Cami

Boxer Insane
Last summer I read on BW about a toy called a "treatsie ball" I have since seen others that are similiar. You can put treats in the ball which fall out when it is being rolled around.

I bought one for Cami and she wouldn't have anything to do with it. Well, after digging in the closet I came across it last night. I showed it to her and she didn't pay much attention to it. I put some kibble in it and shook it and let her see that the "candy" had come from the ball. For the next hour and a half (finally took it away from her), she was obsessed with getting the kibble out. She barked at it, woo-wooed at it, pawed at it, nosed it around the entire house. Huffed and puffed at it when it would get stuck under a piece of furniture. It's an amazing thing to have her tire herself out! She slept like a rock last night.

This morning she started right back at it. I finally got tired of hearing it hit the walls and roll across the kitchen floor. The cat was thinking that Cami had gone entirely nutso and kept following Cami around the house while she was playing with this thing. The cat kept looking at me as if to say, "What's the big deal, it is only dog food after all."

If you don't have one and have a bored Boxer you might want to invest in one. Hours of cheap entertainment.

Frankies love is tennis balls. We buy a pack of three for a dollar at dollar general, that are colorful, and have dog paws all over them. Frankie LOVES these balls, and I have bought several packages of these, because he takes them outside, and either loses them, or tears them to shreds. Hours of fun for these as well. :D we dont have a pet store here, not much of an assortment of toys for dogs at wally world. :( But we buy him stuffed animals, tennis balls, (his fave) and all kinds of noisey toys (plastic ones) that he doesnt pay much mind to. LOL...
He also trys to steal the ball pillows of his skin brothers bed....(they fight over these all the time)
Those darned dogs....lol

Before I had Beasley I had a black lab and she LOVED playing with a Buster Cube, which is the samekind of thing as the treatsie ball: you put kibble (or better yet, the Old Mother Hubbard BITS) in it and as the dog plays with it the treats come out. You can even adjust the treat dispensing settings to be 'easy' or 'more challenging'.

When I first tried the Buster Cube with Beasley, he wasn't really interested. I started mixing in small, semi-soft training bits in there to sweeten the pot (typically Beasley is the poster child for 'will work for food') and I had to show him how to manipulate the cube with his paws. His only interest was to try and get the entire thing in his mouth! It was so fun to watch the little gears in his head start to figure out how to play with this bizzare plastic thing that smelled kinda good... ;)

He doesn't play with it regularly, but it's really neat when the desire hits him and he goes looking for it. If the cube is empty, he'll push it at me as if to say 'OK, mom, this thing needs refilling'

My black lab, Pepper, LOVED it too! She wouldn't waste time rolling it around on the floor, she's get it next to a wall, and just whack it against the wall over and over again--I guess more food came out that way!!

Beau and Samantha love to roll it on the floor though! Their only problem is mommy who gets tired of filling it up all the time!

I have been wondering about those, I've seen them a petsmart, but after reading that I will definatly be getting one of those for Macie, sounds like something she would love! Thanks for letting me know about the treatsie ball!
