I am sure there are lovely Pits out there but they scare me to death(

It's funny you say this...I used to feel the same way about Boxers, until I met one with his ears floppy and he just looked like a cartoon character. :)

I've just seen a few too many in my area attack a dog for no apparent reason, including Ruby. I don't let my dogs near them now.

I just caught this thread. As everyone on this site knows, I do not like pit's, no matter how friendly and sweet the owners say they are. I always advise anyone who has doubt for anything to go with your gut, and i am glad nothing seriouse happened to you baby. :)

I am afraid that is my opinion too, it is just because Ruby has been attacked by one and lunged at viciously by another and on 2 separate occasions I've seen 2 attacks, one on a golden retriever which made me sick to the stomach and another on a little cross breed in the park.

After Ruby was attacked, with the owner shouting behind this pitbull 'Oh he's ever so friendly' I kept my distance from them when out walking. Every day I'd see an elderly man walking 2 pitbulls together, on leads, everyday he'd say 'Why don't you let your Ruby meet my dogs, they're as soft as butter' and everyday I'd say 'No, thanks anyway' It got a bit embarrassing, so I changed my route, one day there he was again, on my side of the road with his dogs, I couldn't say it again! so I thought, Ok, lets just say hello - Big mistake, the black one lunged up trying to viciously bite Ruby, I bent down and just lifted her off the ground so fast. I just looked at the man shaking my head and walked on. I'm not ignorant, I'm just not prepared to let my dogs get attacked, how do you know which ones are really ok or not? :)
