Too submissive? Should I worry?

Maggie is a sweet adorable 6 month old. She only wants to meet and love people and other dogs.

But she is very submissive. Always submits to the other dog. Recently she rolled on her back and submitted to an 11 WEEK old boxer puppy.

Should I be worried? Is it possible to be too submissive? I certainly don't want an aggressive dog but I worry that she may be hurt one day by being too submissive.

Angel was just the same at that age, she would roll right over everytime she met a dog. As she has matured, she is still only 10 months old but she has grown so much more confident. She even put a Jack Russell in it's place the other day and tonight Ruby made the mistake of trying to pinch her marrow bone  she won't try that again! :)

I wouldn't worry to much, just keep socializing her.

lacey used to be that way, she even went as far as to pee everytime she met another dog, now she is fine and plays with all she meets.

Our last dog was like that her whole life and it used to upset me to see her submitting everytime a dog approached but she was just such a lovely girl who wouldn't hurt a fly.
I think it was her way of showing other dogs she was no threat and afterwards when she knew she'd lulled them into a sense of security she'd get up and bounce all over them

Dozer is submissive and has been a really easy dog behaviorally. Diesel is the opposite He is dominant and headstrong and has been really difficult at times to deal with. I would much rather have a submissive dog who tries to get allong with everyone then one like Diesel. ;)

dozersmommy - I agree that I would rather NOT have a dominant dog. I just worry that she may be hurt one day.

She was playing with a 3 month old brindle last night and Maggie would submit at the drop of a hat. I just wish that once in a while she would put the 3 month old in her place! :)

Revan is the same way and he is a male.. Recently we have started taking him to the dog park . He did great i think this is our remedy for his shyness. He gets to socilaze with all kinds of other dogs

Koa is a year old now (Nov. 21st) and I have seen a big improvement in her submissive behavior. She used to pee and roll over but now she just stands still and lets the dog sniff her.
I do get annoyed though because she does get picked on at the dog park. She has been nipped once (and still has the scar) and I almost lost an ankle when a german shephard decided he didn't like her and came after both of us! Sometimes I just feel bad for her and wish she would fight back....but I always feel better that I don't have the "mean dog at the dog park" =-)

I'm sure you're boxer will grow out of it too.

My girl is 3 1/2 and is still very submissive. She will submit on her own to another dog and I am fine with this. Hubby would prefer that she "stand up for herself" but I know that her way is the more preferred way.
After she rolls on her back and the other dog smells her and is assured that she is friendly she gets up and starts playing. If that same dog trys to hump her or starts smelling her again she lets them know nicely that they had their chance and she won't allow them to continue.
I don't consider her overly submissive, (meaning I know she has her limits-and won't let another dog run all over her). She is a social butterfly. I can only assume that having a more non-submissive dog would get a little nerve racking at times.
