Too Many Fleas out of ideas..

Ok, I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of, I have tried Advantix, I have tried Frontline, I have tried BioSpot I have treated my yard and home MANY times...I don't know what else to do? Anybody have any more ideas that won't break the bank anymore than I already have? I will be treating my carpets with Salt this afternoon as I leave to see if I can zap the lil buggers while we are out for the evening.

I would give Frontline PLUS (a liquid), Program (a pill), bomb your house with a no mess bug bomb (make sure it states on it that it also kills flea EGGS/larvae) 1-2 times, and either have your yard professionally done for oh it's probably around $60 or make sure what you get is REALLY good stuff if you do it yourself. I would do all of this together so that no time elapses and hopefully it'll get better. And then I'd continue with the Frontline Plus and Program for a couple of months and you may end up needing to bomb your house again in 2-3 months.

We had an infestation a few years ago and it was awful. Took me about 8 months to where I didn't see a flea hop on me once in awhile.

Aside from treating your yard, may I suggest Comfortis. It is the ONLY that worked for Chance and ever since I started him on it I have yet to see a single flea (knock on wood) either on him, the cat or in the house. We also have the bug guy come by once every 3 months to treat the yard. Best of luck to you, we hope you can get your fleas under control

We had a horrible amount of fleas last summer due to some stray cats around. Here is what I did that worked.

I treated the yard with sevin dust. Then I bathed the dog, and applied frontline and gave him a capstar pill. Then I sprayed the house with Raid for fleas. It is in a purple can. I sprayed the floors, the furniture, the bottoms of the curtains, the bed. Everything even my vinyl and tile floors. While I was doing this Ruben was in his crate on the deck. This seemed to work for us.

Comfortis is the only thing that works for my boys, too. I broke the bank trying everything else and none of it worked. Comfortis is actually less expensive than a lot of the topical treatments, too.

my vet swears it has been disproven and doesn't work. but not one of my three dogs has had fleas. many many years ago i had a cockerspaniel that got terrorized by them and it was so bad i was getting bit up with her. some lady told me to sprinkle a tiny amount of powdered garlic (never cloves) into her food. the theory is that it gets in their bloodstream and when the fleas bite them they don't like the taste and they fall off and die because you've taken out their food source. well my cocker had these fleas that were embedding in her skin and nothing was moving them and so i tried it. sure enough couple weeks go by and i realize hmm no fleas. personally i eat loads of garlic and my dogs get scraps so they get it from that alone and it is enough i think. never seen a flea live on any of these three and well we've lived near packs of dogs, packs of cats, and now we're in a heavily wooded area with all sorts of buggies around. and still we have no fleas. with no flea spray, pills...not even in their shampoo. charlie's skin only likes oatmeal shampoo so we dont dip him in anything but that. i know if he did ever have fleas it'd be awful he's so allergic to bug bites.

I asked my vet recently about Comfortis and they said they hope to be getting it soon. How can I go about getting it now? I have heard a bit of good. My co worker who originally told me about it and his vet carries it. Is it available without a vet?
