As far as picking her up so close after her surgery I don't think it's an issue, my best friend picked her baby up and she was still knocked out, the tech carried her to the car for her, they told her she would wake up soon and not to give her any water until after 9pm that night and then only 1/2 a cup and withold any more food or water until the next day and she did great. I would definately go get her, AND change vets!

I am so sorry about the Vet today. I am glad that the procedure went well for Sydney though and that she is awake.

I am absolutely speechless about the vet and dont even know what to say except after you pick her up I would request all of her medical records and find another vet.

Thank you for the advice - I am definitely going to be finding a new vet. I don't like to feel like I'm bothering someone because I care about my beloved furbaby! Usually, I really like this vet's office...but the one vet I really liked moved South recently....time for me to switch! Even the women behind the desk this morning seemed aggitated that I was asking questions.

I am going to pick her up on my way home from work. I have the emergency #s in case anything happens during the night and I know she'll be much happier with us! Thank you!!! I will let you know how she is doing :)

Thank you so much!!! :)

I just wanted to let you know that Sydney is sound asleep on her favorite bed with her favorite blanket on! I am so happy that she is home!!!! I gave her lots of lovin' too!!!! (I am working from home today so that I can be with her).

When I went to pick her up, they were actually giving me an attitude!!! (like I did something wrong!) Oh well, it's their loss because I am taking my business elsewhere! I don't ever want to feel like I am in the wrong or "bothering" someone for asking questions and wanting my baby home with us!

I am just so happy it's over and she is home with us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She was so happy to see us! She wouldn't walk down the hallway w/ the woman at first...until she saw us and she basically ran down! She was so excited! But once we got in the car, she slept the entire ride and went right to bed when we got home. She was up to pee and right back to bed this morning.

They told me that I had to make a follow up appointment for 7-10 days afterwards. I made one, but was thinking of cancelling since I wanted to find a new vet - but I am thinking it might be a good idea to just let the same vet follow up? Not sure if a new vet would look at someone else's work.....

As for the stitches, they didn't even explain anything about them to me and to be honest, I couldn't get out there fast enough with her! They told me that she can't lick or anything and to check it every day. By looking at it, I don't see stitches on the outside though, they must have used the glue you mentioned. Oh and they sent us home w/ an E collar on too - boy is she glad to have that off! She didn't know what to do with that :)

a little update...

I've been checking on my baby all day (even though I can see her from my computer) and she seems to be doing fine.

She sat up a little while ago and looked at me, so we went out to pee. She did pretty well on the stairs too - a little awkward for her I think, but she did good (I asked the vet and they said she should do fine on the stairs today but just to limit them).

I brought her right back in and to her pillow. She layed down and I covered her with her blanket. She let out 3 big "sighs" and fell back to sleep as I was petting her. (I actually took a picture of her and uploaded it in my gallery, just waiting for it to be approved).

I tried to give her some water a little while ago, but she didn't care for it...maybe later on. I also tried to give her one of her Canidae Snap Biscuits, she normally loves those...but still didn't want. So, <<LIGHTBULB!!>> I went into the fridge and got her some left over prime-rib...cut it up into little cubes and gave it to her....she ate them all and seemed to be looking for some more! I didn't give her too much since I wasn't sure if she should fill her tummy yet...I figured we'd let her digest that and try again later.

I just want to keep her as comfortable as possible. If she has any pain, maybe being warm and comfy will help keep it at a minimum and she can sleep through it. :)

Sydney says thank you for all the advice!!!

Carol,

Thank you so much!! She did wonderful last night - even ate her dinner and most of her breakfast today. She's still a little tired, but am not sure if I am just making her lay down all the time that I think that :) She was up walking around this morning and should have seen her last night when my husband got home...her little nub was going a mile a minute and doing the pretzel (kidney bean) dance! She was so happy to be home!!!

She did have a little bit of loose stool this morning...actually a lot, but I am thinking that is normal after a day or so of not eating and then eating Prime Rib for lunch - plus the surgery and everything. Hopefully, tonight she will be back to normal.

I am sad though since I had to leave her at home today (I had to go into work). She has the E-Collar on so she won't lick. I have her in a play pen type thing (made out of 6 panels of "baby gates" in a circle - kind of like a make shift pen) - I didn't want to leave her in the crate with that collar on or in the house since she bumps into everything with it on.

I can't wait to go home and see her!!!! I hope she is ok all by herself (I left the TV on for her so she doesn't feel alone)

What is ACE? When my baby is old enough I will have her spayed, I would like to know what this is?

Thanks..
