I was going to board my two Boxers and my Dalmatian last summer while we went on vacation for a few days.
I dropped them off on Sunday evening, because we were leaving at 3 am on Monday morning.
At 9 am I called to check on them....Dixie was whining continously. Brittany was acting depressed and wouldn't eat.
Skylar was moping around. :(
That's not what I needed to hear!!
I felt so guilty.
At 5 pm, I called to check on them again. Same news, only worse.
I felt like a bad Mommy :(
The next morning I called at 8 am....none of them had been eating. All acted depressed.
Needless to say....Mommy cut the vacation short!
We came back home that very day....picked my babies up at 7pm and boy were they HAPPY :D
Mommy was home!!!

I know it isn't that bad for most folks....but it was for me.
In fact I know first hand that many adjust to boarding with absolutely no problems. I worked for a Vet for a long time and we had boarding services. Many of the doggies acted as if nothing was out of the ordinary by being there.

Best Wishes....hope things go well at the doctor!

Thank you all for your replies. My mom and stepdad were going to stay here with the dogs, but my mom is having surgery and doesn't know how long she'll be out of commision. Other than that, there is no one. Everyone works and lives hours from us. The closest doggie day care I could find is a hour and a half away from us. We really trust the vets office we use and as I said, Dylan did fine when her ears were cropped. I've used the vet when my parents had their dog, so I've had a good relationship with them for about 12 years now. I'm am hoping for the best. Both of us have to be at this doctors appointment, or I wouldn't go. I feel awful, but I really don't have any other options. We are already paying over four thousand dollars for this doctors appointment, so I cannot pay a ton of money for a resort type place for the dogs. I'm hoping for the best. Thank you again.

It's natural to worry, but I think they'll be fine. They'll miss you, of course, but that's just means you'll get extra kidney beans when you pick them up!

Is it possible to get a kennel that has a "run" thoes are always good! because the dog can run around outside most of its day and then when it is tuckered out they take the dogs inside into the kennel for the night... i saw a place like this when I was going to board my cat and there was a cute white boxer running around the run with his toy.. it was cute lol.
