To Thieve or not to Thieve

Monty has not really ever been a thief.

Perhaps I'm just lucky as my last dog certainly was. I can leave food out downstairs while I'm upstairs and he has never touched it.
I really must have tested his patience though last night. Without realising it I left a box of chocolates on the coffee table. Monty is a chocoholic he turns the tap on at a mear hint of a smell of chocolate.
When I came down this morning to my horror I saw the box and as I know chocolate is bad for dogs I felt so stupid for being so careless. However to my amazement it was intact. When he saw me he greeted me as usual then went and sniffed at the box. I know it's not true but it was as if he was saying to me, "I didn't touch them mum so please can I have one now?"

For his total honesty he did get one, but never will I be so silly again.

Could you send Monty over to the states to teach my two hooligans some manners? I can't leave ANYTHING setting ANYWHERE without mine either eating it or tearing it up!

I can totally understand....one Christmas, Leisel got in to all the presents before they were wrapped and ate a whole fruit cake (she unwrapped that carefully!), a box of chocolates, and a WHOLE bag of licorice in one sitting!

Needless to say she was in big trouble when we got home.

We have to take our drinks with us whenever we get up from the couch, otherwise Emma tastes any drink left on it's own. She has so far gotten a good taste of coffee (with milk & sugar!), Pepsi, and Big Red! She really likes my coffee and I have to remember to move it. Sometimes she gets it because I only drink coffee in the morning and am half asleep and not paying attention. The funniest time was when she drank my husband's Big Red. I couldn't stop laughing because I know just how he felt. She isn't a neat drinker either. There is always plenty of evidence with the drips and splashes she leaves behind!

Very Very good Monty!! Eddie is pretty good with most food now but that chocolate would have been gone!:D
