It's amazing to me how many people comment on ears!! I have never in my life commented on any dogs ears - cropped, natural, whatever!!

My first experience with Taties ears came when I took her to the feed store. Her ears were still taped. I walk into the store and and this family (mom, dad, son) start pointing at us and whispering. I didn't really think too much about it at the time but a few minutes later the boy walked by us and said "poor dog" and shakes his head. This boy was MAYBE 6 years old so obviously his parents had been whispering about Taties ears.

Next, this woman comes up and makes a fuss about how pretty Tatie is. She is getting Tatie all excited talking in a high voice and says "you're so pretty, too bad your mom had to be so cruel to you".

This was just the beginning. It seems like EVERYTIME we go out several people feel compelled to make comments about her ears. I have yet to say anything back but one of these days someone is going to catch me in the wrong mood and they are going to get a tongue lashing for all those that have come before... :)

We left our baby with natural ears and have never regretted it. We haven't had any rude comments luckily. Actually a lot of people have said that they like how he looks with natural ears. My personal preference is floppy ears...there is just something about a pooch with floppy ears that gets me. Keeps them looking more like a puppy too! But I would never berate somebody for their decision to crop their boxers ears!

Here is an idea-

For all who are putting up with stupid comments on your babies ears - cropped or not cropped, when someone comments on your choice than shoot back a question at them about if their skin kid is circumsized or not! IT'S PERSONAL! period.

I had no clue there were such controversies on this issue, until I got Roxy and I don't know why people comment because she is half boxer and half lab! And I myself, have NEVER questioned anyone about thier dog's breed, who am I to tell someone about their dog that I have never seen before- but people argue with me that Roxy is not what she IS! Grrrr!

I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, can you tell? LOL

Mj & Roxy * why did that person scream I was a PIT mommy?*

Our Sophie is 11wks old, and she still has her natural ears....my dh was obsessed with boxers and he picked her out. I had never seen a boxer with natural ears before, and both her parents' ears were cropped. When I took her in for her shots I asked the vet about croppping....pros, cons, why people do it....and they don't do it here in Fresno. They feel there is no need for it and think it is cruel. I thought it was interesting.....my husband loves her ears and said he wanted her to stay natural....I think all boxers are beautiful.....cropped or natural....:)

The first Boxer I had, came from a vet who also shows his Boxers. And her ears were already cropped and had a stick in each ears. During her ear-training period, people commented how scared they were because they thought she is a vicious dog. I could not re-tape well and ended up one of her ear stood up nicely but other just lay towards other ear. After this look became permanent, no one commented anything negative about her. The second Boxer I had came from a rescue. He was already old and had natural ears.

When I visited PetSmart a couple days ago, there were about 5 Boxers in total - 1 puppy and others are adults. I went a happy nut! Some had cropped ears and some had natural ears.

I just love them, whatever ears they have.

Most of the people who comment on Jade's ears tell me that they are glad we didn't crop them because of the pain that the dogs go through. There was one lady that told us it was a shame, and that we were wasting her beauty by not cropping becuase she will never be accepted as a "true" boxer. I told her that we think her floppy ears are cute and that she was fixed and would not be able to show anyway.

Maggie has natural ears. We are getting our new puppy in 2 weeks. His dad is from the UK and has natural ears of course, and Mom has cropped. They are so beautiful together. I like the look of both. However my opinion is that I wuld like to see more and more natural ears. We have decided to keep the puppy's ears natural. I hope that as he is shown, and in future years, the natural ears will become more acceptable in the show ring.

I am not sure how you can compare something on a dog that is cosmetic to something like circumcision that is done clearly for health reasons, whether right or wrong. Parents make this decison based on religious, and health opinions. People crop ears based on look.

I just came off the tri-boards from another website and you would not believe the debates and arguments over circ's- the wave of opinion is changing on this and people are getting verbally "beaten up" because they decide to have it done and are told it's only cosmetic- lots of dr's believe this now too.

This is not the board to debate that and I did not mean to offend you if I did, that is very much a personal decision in my opinion, I have a boxer and boys to decide for, and I tend to have a bit of a dry sense of humor when it's not appropriate I guess.

Again, I am sorry if I offended you

Both mine are natural...I love the expressions in addition to the eyes..it is personal and I love playing with them..they say after you crop they really don't like you messing with them..again personal reasons for cropping...I chose not to!
